Suspension Help

Hey Folks,
I have a 00-Civic Si (is that Ek ?)

I currently have a very low suspension setup. (ebiach pro springs on stock shock & struts)

the ride is really stiff and every bump i feel is uncomfortable. i want to change this up. any shops you guys recommend ? what kind of setup should i go with so that the ride will be comfortable. I'm a total newb when it comes to suspension. Also i'm budgeting for 1000 that's including install.

thanks for the help.

Install is not hard, you might get a bargain for an installed price.

You can get the Omni coilovers for like 800 dollars and you can get someone to install them for like 180... i got my Tein SS Coilovers installed for 180 with upper/lower strut bars and height adjusted.

I dont see a reason for you to shell out all that much cash. The Pro-Kit springs are already pretty soft, and offer a fairly mild drop. The reason you are experiencing the poor ride quality is because of your shocks. When you lowered the car, your stock shocks have been put under more pressure, and have less travel room. This results in a less effective shocks.

What I would suggest is a simple aftermarket shock. You can go with something like a GR2, or Tokico HP. If you desire something adjustable, a set of Tokico Illumina's would be nice. On their softest setting they ride just like stock, but you always have the option to go a little stiffer, should you require it.

I would personally tell you to keep your springs, unless you are looking to change the drop, either up or down.

You can also get your suspension installed for around $120.

You have PM.

Get some adjustable dampening shocks. It'll help smooth out the ride from the stiffer lowering springs. Illumina or KYB AGX, both are good shocks.

^^ why get adjustables?

It's a waste of money, he doesn't sound like he's going to be going to the track a lot.

Tokico blues are non-adjustable, cheap and fine shocks for daily use. I use them, the ride is pretty good.

I use the pro kit with non adjustable KYB GR2's and the ride quality is great. Cheap and effective.

before i had air ride in my EG hatch, i had the tokico blues on coil overs... rode pretty good. a touch stiff cuz of the coil over. i did a pretty big drop, was like 2.5"

before i did the blues, i had them on stock shocks. and it was horrible and uncomfortable.

no need to shell out $1000 man.... a good set of shocks with those springs and you'll be a happy man.

ya why the hell go coilovers when he's already got decent springs. Add good shocks and the ride will be considerably better. $400 for shocks, $120 for install, $90 for alignment would be a good ball park starting point.

If you want different springs to raise or lower the car, addd $250 for new springs, all well under $1000, but don't forget the alignment.
