suspension advice

Hello there,

I am in need of some new suspension parts and I really dont wanna spend an arm and a leg so here goes. First off, I drive a 90 si hatch and is my daily driver all year round. I wanna upgrade from stock so this is the plan. I wanna replace my bushings, springs and struts. I hear that poly bushings are a good upgrade but have no clue on price but I can get my hands on a set of 99 sir springs and a set of kyb gr2 for a great price. I already have a tower brace so will these upgrades give me a comfortable ride and add some performance as well? I've done some research and I think this should suffice, so what do you think. Please post only if you have something intelligent to add or have a similar susp. setup.

Thanks

the bushing kit is like $200... its not the funnest thing to install.... probably the single worst job actually.... but it tightens up your suspension....

In have KYB Gr2's and the ride is allot better than stock. I have a bushing kit as well but after the horror stories I hear about installation I think I might sell it cause I don't the cash to get them installed professionaly.

I have used GR2's for sale for $150 if you're interested. Tie rods, upper arms, lower balljoints, etc can be bought for cheap from a place at weston and st. claire called Ahon Auto Parts or something like that. And urethane bushings are overall cheaper and better then honda bushings but a master kit could run you around $500 to install.

Thanks for your responses but why would the bushings be so much to purchase. I figures I needed to change 4 bushings one over each strut???

thats the install for the master kit of bushings which is all of them in your car.... and honestly if i ever did bushings on someones car i'd probably charge $200.... but if your car was like mine and a lot of bushings were toast then its a good investment.... for me it was just my time though

there are 8 bushings just for one rear corner of my car (by my count could be missing something) so thats 16 in the rear alone... then the front I think that has 7 bushings so a total of another 14 see why the master flex kit is so much now?

there's just the lower control arm bushing ... and I think the top hat has a piece of rubber in it that can be replaced..... not sure if it's called a bushing or not...

but if your going to do the one lower controlarm bushing that the strut connects to then you might as well do all the lower control arm bushings at the same time

by my picture there is 8 in the rear as well... but see the master kit only includes 3 of those 8... its $35 extra for the trailing arm bushings

but the frontportion of the kit does include everything... if you include those two small bushings on each side of the sway bar then theres 7 up front...

Ok, so could I purchase a kit for the front only? If so where and how much should I expect to pay. And one more thing, why 7 in front, shouldn't there be an equal amount for each side like 3 and 3 or 4 and 4 for the front end?

Thanks

each top hat has 2 bushings in it...however if you got new shocks like my illuminas it would come with them...gr2's i dont think came with them...it wouldnt be a bad idea to get new top hats either...they're like $12 from honda. And honda bushings cost more just cuz they are OEM. When I first did my suspension my rear bushings on the fork were seized just like in any other honda and I bought a whole rear kit for the price of two honda bushings that I needed.

Great, guys thank you so much for the information it is very much appreciated. I will let my mechanic (my cousin) dictate which ones need replacing. Will post after the work is done and give my impressions on the suspension. Thanks again,
