suspendsion noises
is my suspendsion shot?
car is a 97 EL with 200kms, everytime i go over big bumps, the suspendsion would sound hollow, like a big chunk sound, but small cracks i dont heard anything. car has 200kms on it, not sure if the shocks has been changed. shocks was check for leaks, mechanic said they are good no need to change them. when car is pushed down each corner one at a time, car didn't have more than 2 bounces.
what could it be?
btw does sir shocks have a lower ride height?

could just be that over big bumps your car is hitting the bump stops in the back, thus causing that sound. My car is lowered and when I have people in the back and I go over a large bump it makes the same kind of noise. Anyone else have any input?

Mine clunks pretty loudly. It's what happens when you triple the spring rate and decrease the travel, add lower profile tires and then drive over bumps in the road. Then consider that the rear end is lighter than the front and the trunk is hollow, which can amplify the sound. There also isn't a firewall between you and trunk and, if your car has high mileage, the bushing are probably getting worn out.
Factor all of this in and you get a louder ride.
