susp./tires question(once again)

Two days ago i asked:
-------------------------------------------------

Ok guys, question is on suspention and tires.

Vehicle:90si(92-93 gsr? or integra complete suspention components)

Im in the market for a full coilover, camberkit and tires

Looking to spend between $1000-1500 on coilovers.
I have looked at all the popular brands i guess like tein etc. but its mind bogoling how many differnt choices there are. I want a comfortable ride, will never see a track really, and a set that wont kill my back, But still would like to enjoy taking ramps at 120
I noticed on the tein site there isint a wide range of selection for my application? the basic damper? there site is ghettoooo. Also there wont be any problem getting the coilovers to fit if i have all integra components? because there interchangable right?

bottomline questions.

1. Sugestions on a mainly streetable coilover between 1000-1500 and camber kit front back.

2. Since there is full integra susp. on there now will the civic application work ?

3. tires. Have been looking into the "r" compound tires and one step under "ultra high performance" The only thing that was holding me back from a "r" was the tread wearing issues. But with some looking on tires 1010 some of the ultrahigh performance tires have a lower tread wear then some of the "r" compounds. SO which "r" compound has the highest tread wear, and will last at least 1 hard season?

Thanks!

------------------------------------------------

The only two responces i got were from moderators

1.

1. Why a coilover? If the car will only be street driven, a good quality spring and shock will be more then good enough. H&R springs and Koni Yellow shocks for example.

2. I'm guessing since the suspension is from an Integra, then it would be Integra components you need. Most Civic and Teg parts are interchangeable anyway.

3. Why do you need R compound tires on a street driven car?

4. Try doing a search. There are alot of suspension threads to look through.

and the other said look through the other threads.
-----------------------------------
With all do respect to the moderators, i did not ask these questions to get 4 more thrown back at me. I do not need to be questioned on what i am planing on doing. I wanted others to share there expierences that apply to my questions, and allowing others to express there opionions, not questioning mine. Then closing the thread?.At least leave the thread open for a while why close it? Let people express there opionions. Question # 2 was not ansered, i need a 100% anser on that, most likely someone on here has the same setup as me. You say integra, but i would like it to be designed for a civic so if there interchangable it will not matter? Give them a chance to anser, and the other questions you just through them back questioning me, and why i would need what i asked about. Dont worrie about what i asked, even if it seems pointless for you please just let others anser my questions.

Thank You.

Daniel

since your budet it low 1000-1500 basically gets you low end new stuff.
i recommend getting PIC coilovers and ingalls camber kit front and back.

or the easy way is to go to optionjdm and buy omni power coilovers and camber kit for front and back and lower control arms all of that for less than 1200 dollars.

as for the suspension being from integra on your car you might or might not be able to fit the civic (not 100 percent sure) all you got to make sure is the lower part of the strut fits into the fork and lca.

call optionjdm they will figure it out.

Thumbs up

Cheers. Stick it to the mods, lol.

First of all, what car do you drive? A civic or integra? And if its an integra why do you want civic suspension? You need to clarify this, because I am not understanding :P

Suspension components are endless, but if you are looking for comfort you will only get it in two ways. Stock, or near stock spring rates with a mild shock. Second option is a properly valved shock to match the rate of the spring. The second option usually results in a more expensive suspension setup but more performance without "killing your back."

As for tires, if your not going to hit the track, do not bother with R compounds. On the street you should be driving sensibly enough to not need R compounds. UHP tires will suffice. Something Like the Toyo T1R, Kumho MX, Pole Position's, pretty much anything from ADVAN, and so on. No need to get R compound tires that will not perform in the wet, won't work their best till fully warmed up, or will wear out before you hit next month.

PM me if you want to talk, because I think I am IBTL.

i was gonna say grab the tein basics if you want a soft ride, but if you get the PICS grab them with a softer spring rate... but you have to remember, you want performance... with a civic, doesn't always come with comfort... this is not a mercedes here, so you have to be realistic... they are engineered from the ground up to be luxury performance... so they have advantages like stiff chassis and can rurn a softer suspension, but still outhandle you... you want stiff and comfortable ride for everyday... put a roll cage in your car and grab some type-r suspension and enjoy.

for r-compounds... if you mean by season i hope you mean like june to aug cause thats about the only weather thats close to good for them...

i am grabbing some r compounds for this season and i am so running them on the road... for track time it will r-compounds for the track and r-compounds for practice (...being mississauga's fine roads...)lol.

plus, i would even try taking a 60 hwy onramp at 120 with just coilovers... you need sway bars front and back if you really want to hold for stuff like that and you need some sticky tires... i wouldn't risk it otherwise...

The reason mods may close threads so quickly is that it seems we always get the same questions being asked on here on a weekly and even daily basis....I've lost count of how many threads there have been on intakes and exhaust... There have also been alot of posts on tires and suspension.

Though I can see some of your questions may be valid and reasonable....the mods may see it necessary to close it because the topic has been covered many times before.

As for my actual useful opinion; I do not recommend an R compound tire for daily driving...They are not designed for it, you're better off with a really good sticky street tire like falken azenis.

Thanks.

^^^ ditto. by slapping them on immediately for the street, you don't heat cycle them properly and they will never be as good as they're supposed to be. not only that, they need to be warmed up to be have decent grip. cold r compounds can slide around and be dangerous so it's your call. azenis are the closest thing to r compound that you can run on the street.

The reason why your first thread was locked was because if you browse through the first 5 pages of this particular subforum, you will find at least 5 threads that talks about aftermarket coilvers, 2 threads about what springs to use, and 3 threads asking what tires to go with (which includes R compound).

No threads is pointless to me. It is the constant repeatative questions (especially within a week of time and first couple pages of the forum) that make them get locked. This does not mean you cannot ask questions, however, if you kindly spent the time to go through the first couple pages, you could very well have found your answer.

The same people that expressed their opinions in this thread are the same people (90% of the time) that expressed their opinions in threads possessed with the same nature.

Also, did you read the rules of this subforum? Then you will know why it gets locked.

------------------------

Integra is built on a Civic. Which ever Integra OEM part you've used on your CRX, if you want to replace it with aftermarket, get the ones for Integra. Chances are, they are all the same.

Rear camper kit, 88-00 Civics/94-01 Tegs are all the same, because rear trailing arms are the same.

Your question 1 and 3 are answered. As for #2, call Honda and ask for part number on EF front/rear upper control arm, then ask the same parts for an Integra. If the parts are the same number, then you can mix them up. You would know what to do if the answer was different otherwise.

Thanks
