superchargers vs engine swap
I've got a 99 civic lx what do you think would be better an engine swap or putting in a supercharger. What's the best out there as far as superchargers and engines?

how much are we looking if we do a B18B swap?
motor and isntall and taxes and all the garbage.
and after all this you ever think the car will brake down faster than if it had a original engine in?
how many of you guys have done swaps and then have your engines running good and how many have dumped their cars in a lake coz the engine went bad?
i simply don't trust swaps. unless i have the money to fix all the problems that will come with it.
what do you think.
i hope i'm not poking in but its a question everyone doing a swap should know and i thoguht it would help the both of us in understanding the dangers and consequences of swaping motors.
thanks and sorry if i jumped in your thread.

Thats just a myth that comes from people that had a bad mechanic do the install/ bad experiance... If its done right the first time with nothing left unfinished (proper wireing, tested sensors, new clutch..ect..) , and the engine compression and leakdown test passes, than you will have the same great honda reliability as it came from the factory... After all its still a handa engine right? It just comes down to the quality of installation!
Now you go and mod the **** out of, and yes reliabilty suffers as does any engine... Throw a blower on a factory installed engine, its going to be far less reliable than a properly swaped N/A engine, no ifs ands or buts!
In the aviation industry, we fly around in airplanes from the 1950's and 60's... they are just as relaible as the day it was built, why? because of mandatory engine swaps every 2000 hrs of run time(done by a certified AME that has 3 years of schooling and passed an intense Transport Canada Licence exam). Now unfourtunately in the automotive industry they let any jo shmoe work in a garage, which means the quality of work is not as standardized, and guys arnt worried that your gonna fall out of the sky if the engine breaks down , in turn leaves a small % of shitty installs by careless mechanics or DIY'ers...
In theory if a cars body lasted as long as an airframe it could outlive your lifetime with regular 300,000km properly done engine swaps
Moral of the story, shop around, ask lots of questions, conslut a professional, have a Pre purchace inspection done on the engine preferably by another mechanic other than the seller. And get lots of feedback from guys that have gotten work done by a particualr shop. And choose an engine that works best with your car to avoid hacked wireing jobs.
