struts

Can anyone tell me what struts are and what the purpose of them is?

they make sure your suspension doesn't bounce when you hit a bump... they "smooth" out the ride

they are used interchageable with the term shocks on civics for soem reason .....

the spring is loaded around the strut in the suspension :)

Oh i see, because for some reason I saw a "strut" on the net, and it looked like a long bar?? with two sort of clamps on the end

punkindrublic 28-Jul-2003 12:53 PM

strut tower bar??

Nova_Dust 28-Jul-2003 01:20 PM

That's gotta be it... Strut Tower Bar...

Ruff_Rever 28-Jul-2003 06:13 PM

so then the strut tower bar holds the strut in place?

Jugglez 28-Jul-2003 06:23 PM

no, the struts have their own mounting points.. you don't need strut bars to hold them in place.. but you can add strut tower bars to stiffen your suspension. and you will feel a slight imporevement in turning with one on. generic ones can be had for $40 to $60 ..

if your looking for a strut tower brace I'd recommend Neuspeed as the best ....

little more expensive then the generic brand but worth it froma design perspective...
