Strut Tower Bolts

I was just wondering if i can just go to CT and get same size bolts to replace the rusted bolts that holes the strut tower or are they special boths that i need to get it from honda. thanks

chris_si98 27-Mar-2006 07:08 PM

thats not the best idea, unless you know thread and size it is.

imported_starboy869 27-Mar-2006 07:30 PM

Don't forget the grade of bolt.

imported_LiL Devil 27-Mar-2006 08:35 PM

so u guys suggested the best way is to go to honda and grab the bolts. becasue most of the civic the strut tower bolts are rusted bad so i just want to know if you guys get it from dealer or just CT.

Dealer.

just take an old one to ct and ask the people working at the counter to match one up for you from the shop in back parts.

hell no, don't go to canadian tire. get them from the dealer. even at $5 per bolt it's still a bargain.

id just go to brofasco and u can get a bolt stronger than a honda bolt
also cheaper

imported_loudsubz 28-Mar-2006 10:21 PM

are you talking about the NUTS that go on top of the strut towers in the engine bay and in the trunk?

imported_LiL Devil 29-Mar-2006 02:25 AM

yap I am talking about the NUTS that go on top of the strut towers in the engine bay and in the trunk

durell_banks 29-Mar-2006 02:27 AM

3 bucks a piece at the dealership

Cynikal.Mindset 29-Mar-2006 09:46 AM

they are special nuts with locking teeth on em...normal nuts will not be a good idea and ctc doesnt have grade 8 hardware anyways which is what u need atleast...brafasco would have em but they are cheap and readily available from dealer, I think I paid 9bucks for 4 of em

imported_loudsubz 29-Mar-2006 06:57 PM

CT has grade 8 hardware, in the special bolt section they have some high strength units.

I have also seen the locking teech ones, I bought a couple from CT before. Its got crossed lines on the bottom to grab the metal.

Cynikal.Mindset 29-Mar-2006 11:57 PM

true, they do have some grade 8 but I believe they are all coarse thread...nonetheless, dealer is prolly the best and safest solution
