are these kits worth a $1000 brand new???
Performance improvements has a sale oct 13-16 and theyre selling reduced pricing stroker kits do these add both torque and hp??? do I need to bore the block in order to install these or pull the motor out??? or can it be done w/out any machining in the garage??? |

Read this there is good info in there. Stroker kits i've seen go for $1800-3000 |
it will increase hp and torque, but will lower your redline and reduce high rev stability.
I would definately say that you would need to pull the engine. B/c it would a lot easier to work on the engine that way. Plus i would get some machining done before installing. But bare minimum i would say it could be done in your garage by yourself (and an extra person or two) |
hmmmm....i actually like the high redline
i might leave it a 1.8L and maybe just change the pistons to higher compression ones.....im thinking 12:1 so i can still keep the car an everyday car hopefully i dont need machining work once i decide to get pistons....otherwise the pistons wont be worth it..... |
well if you are going to buy new pistons i would overbore like .25mm or .5mm. Or at least give her a fresh hone. But i would recommend changing the rod bearing once you take the piston/rod out of the engine.
There are other ways of raising the compression. You can mill the head, or get a thinner headgasket or weld the combustion chambers or get flat faced valves, but high compression pistons is definately the best way to raise the compression. |
