I had a teacher who stored his old Corolla (well, not really stored, just not driven) for like a year and it was only driven like 2 weeks out of the entire year when ever he comes back to Canada.

He just left it there. Of course, the car ran like crap but it was mostly the engine and fluids. The ride was still fine. Though OEM, not modified, I would think you will be fine.

Just a question for you car storers...

Do you not go check up on your car every week or so and start it up, let it idle, roll out of the garage if its a nice day, etc...??

Or do you simply let it sit all winter long?

Just curious.

I let it sit all winter....have to take the battery so there is no point in starting it....putting the car on stands has never done anything to my suspension that I have noticed...mine has been in the air for the last 4 winters....

goldbadge i find it best to leave the car not started thru the entire winter then starting it up here and there every week or so.
because 1. of the location it is stored, 2. the amount of hassle you have to go thru in order for you to actually start up the car and drive it (if the wheels are removed etc).
also no point in starting up the car and turning it off here and there its the same as not starting it for months and then starting it. afterall a car does not have a mind of its own where it needs gasoline as food in order for it to survive thru the winter.

Starting it up and not driving it is actually worse then letting it sit over the winter. When you don't drive it but start it only not all of the condensation is realesed from the motor and exhaust it just creates more. I have a 78 Mustang with 44,000km on it and all I do is change all the fluids before putting it away and when I'm going to take it out in the spring. I put stabil in the fuel system and run it for 10 min before shutting her down for the winter. I also park it on a tarp to prevent moisture from attacking it from the bottom and get it oil sprayed in september every year. The only thing not on the car original is the tires everything else is good to go. Although i still have the original tires i don't feel safe driving on Bias ply's.

^^exactly fill the tank and do not start the car until spring. Also give it a good clean inside and out and come spring time change fluids and inspect all hoses and belts before starting.
