Stock SIR rear sway bar
Ok well i just got a SIR rear sway bar it came with everything but 4 bolts which i got from honda. my question is does that 4 bolt just bolt right up to the subframe or do i need some kinda of lock nut/nut to hold them in place
heres a picture of the rear sway bar parts im talking about # 36 and #30 http://www.jdmuniverse.com/forums/ho...swaybars/9.gif |
If those were the correct bolts you got from Honda, then I suppose they are the correct ones. You could use different nuts and bolts if you really wanted to as liong as they were the correct size and at least the same strength rating.

the bolts do NOT go directly from the d-brackets to the subframe. if you do this, it will ruin your endlinks (possibly snap them) or it could tweak your subframe.
what you need are two metal brackets that bolt to the subframe and then the swaybar d-brackets bolt to the bracket. the peice I'm talking about is #30 in the picture. So in total you should have gotten 8 bolts, 4 number 35s, and 4 number 36s. #36 goes through the bracket into the subframe, and #35 goes through the d-bracket into the bracket. I'm not sure if I have pics of when I had an SiR bar installed on my car, but if you post pics of all your parts you have I can tell you if it's complete or not. |

seems like you got all the parts. but I think the SiR acutally had another plate WELDED onto the subframe so you can't buy it from the dealer....
I'm pretty sure you will need a nut on the other side, cuz when I installed the beaks kit, there was nothing welded on the other side. you might wanna make a plate or use really large washers on the other side of the subframe to help distribute the stress. that's what I'd do anyways. |

good luck with the install, take pics and make a DIY thread.

oh and stupid as it may sound, don't put the sway bar in upside down by accident LOL cuz it is possible. my buddy came to me with a problem, his ITR sway bar was hitting his lower control arms, he thought the car was just too low... then I noticed his sway bar was mounted upside down :)

oh yeah, I was right about the backing plate on the SiR... it's a reinforcement plate that's welded on... so make sure you either make a backing plate or use very large washers to help distribute the stress.
