Stock-like quiet catback

I'm looking for recommendations for a very quiet catback exhaust system. I've searched and it seems that two of the good ones are the RSR and the Apexi WS systems.

Are these stainless steel? How quiet is quiet? I'm looking for one that's gonna replace stock and the wife doesn't want it to be any louder.

Go with WS =).

Its exactly what your looking for.

scarlemthug 09-Apr-2005 10:25 PM

The WS-II is the one i would go with.

clumzy 09-Apr-2005 11:33 PM

Is the Apexi WS or WSII a stainless steel catback? I think the one for the Prelude (I'm from the TPC) is only a ceramic coated version no?

Oh and what's the going rate for one of these brand new from say Speedtech?

scarlemthug 09-Apr-2005 11:50 PM

astroboy had em for around 680ish i believe.

Not to jack your thread, but I've been searching for a quiet, basically silent exhaust as well.. Only solution i've found is using an ITR exhaust.

go for wsII...its really quiet!

I know Dumbassi's Thermal Axle back was really quite at idle but you let her rip, you can hear it. You can't even hear it in the cabin and able to have a convo.

2 Attachment(s)
Custom 2 1/4" catback with straight thru Stan muffler
is really quiet unless you let it rip . All for $250

nvm, I found out that they do, but the difference between the catback and the axleback is only $100-150.

I had a World Sport 2 on my sedan with headman headers ad a hi flow cat. It was slightly louder, but not much. You can hear it if the radio is off and sometimes on the highway aound 3000 or 3500 the sound would resonate for a second and get louder (it was wierd). When i changed rpms ever so slightly it would go away.

The exhaust is ceramic coated for the length of the piping and the muffler and tip is stainless steel. The dia is 2.38 (2 3/8"). It has a nice size resonator on it as well and the tip is nice looking thick steel.

It might be for sale soon too, btw.

go to acura and get an ITR muffler and have it installed with custom 2 1/4 pipe..... thast whaty im gonna do

imported_GoldBadge 13-Apr-2005 01:16 PM

Is the ITR muffler/tip cosmetically different than the SiR one?

spracingsports 13-Apr-2005 02:21 PM

ya....the ITR looks more ike the CTR if not the same

imported_GoldBadge 13-Apr-2005 03:00 PM

Difference being.....????

spracingsports 13-Apr-2005 03:34 PM

difference from SiR??? probably totally diff.... tip/muffler etc.

DumbasSi 13-Apr-2005 03:35 PM

I've always said ITR or SiR exhausts are the best bang for the buck exhausts. The SiR is a bit bigger in diameter then a stock Si exhaust. The ITR is stainless and mandrel bent. The tip is slightly oval shaped and welded on. It does have to be modded to fit correctly though becasue it's a little shorter then a Civic exhaust. Sketch has one on his Sedan and it sounds very nice.

It sounds different than stock? What mods have to be done to it?

DumbasSi 13-Apr-2005 04:02 PM

Bigger diameter, free-er flowing and the muffler is different inside. Sketch's sounded real nice when I heard it. I've herad different things that need to be moodded. The tip is obviously too short for a Coupe or Sedan and I've read that the front flange where it bolts to the cat is different. I can't imagine it would be more then $100 to get it fitted correctly.

ITR muffler info.
