steath black mufflers?
hey guys i just bought a new civic. it has a b-16. the exhaust is 2 1/4 inch. is there any benefit of going to 3 inch. also have any of you tried the steath black mufflers. the exhaust on the car right now is just too loud so im thinking of getting this exhaust. any good?

The wider your exhaust pipe, the more work the engine has to do in order to push out the hot exhaust gas. Hot air is light but when there is too much in the pipe, the engine has to do more work to exit out the gas.
Having said that, smaller diameter pipe (i.e. OEM size, 2.25") will make exhaust gast exiting faster at low end; which will suffer at high end (restriction). And of course, vice versa.
For a B16, 2.38" is a happy medium. You can go 2.5" for a little more top end power if your engine screams at higher RPM a lot.
As for black stealth muffer, I don't know what that is. OEM painted black? OEM ITR muffer would also be a nice quiet muffler if you want to use that.

btw... they have just a nice deep tone to them, if you just cruise around or drive normally its pretty quiet... but, romp on the gas pedal and iti opens up a bit...
also, for me, i would run it without a cat or res and 2.5"... i was saying above that a cat and res/twin res would quiet it down quite a bit.

some people just dont know eh C?
I've found going from 2.25" up to 2.5" on my b16 was one of the best things for it....didn't really loose any low end, like every one says.
3" is for turbo.
