Starter blown?

I've been doing some research and I've come to the conclusion that I fried my starter. The car is a 90 dx hatch to start with. It's been parked for a couple of months now and worked fine up until today. I tried starting it and it turned over but very sluggishly. I came to the conclusion that my battery was low so I tried boosting it and it turned over normaly but wouldn't catch. I thought maybe my plug wires were the case but after trying another set the outcome was the same. After turning it over for a while (about 20minutes)it finally started. I let it run for about 10 minutes or so then shut it off. I tried starting it again but this time it wouldn't even turn over. First I put the key in, the usual lights come on and then turn it to see if the fuel pump is working, it does. All I get is a clicking sound which I believe is the starter solenoid. I checked the connections on the starter (2)and they seem fine. Do you think I wore out my starter trying to get the thing going or am I missing something. One more thing...I can only find 1 mounting bolt for the starter located on top of the starter assembly. Is there more before I try a different starter tommorow. Any input is more than welcome. Thanks.

hard to say from the info you gave us... take the started off and connect it direct to the battery to see if it turns over.

how big is the solenoid that is attached to the starter(same size as the starter)? THe reason I ask is directly beside the starter there is something of the same size. Is that the solenoid? Excuse me if my description is vague but starters are new to me . Thanks again.

this is a good time to invest in a Chilton or Haynes manual. For $17, you've never had so much knowledge at your fingertips.

the solenoid that engages the starter gear to the flywheel is generally much smaller than the starter itself. never looked at a Honda one, but on every other car it was a wee little thing. If you can locate the starter itself, you should have no problems pulling it out.

starters are not ment to turn an engine for 20 minutes... you probably burnt it out ..... but at the same time 10 minutes isn't enough time to recharge the battery after starting
