stalling and grinding on manual

Hey guy, I have a 1999 civic hatchback DX, and i just had a couple of questions. I know how to drive stick perfectly... however my friend is going back to our country and he doesnt know how to drive stick so i let him practice with mine. I just want to know because im curious, he made the car hop around for like 3 seconds before it stalled and when he put the car into second gear, not at the beginning but at the end, when the gear fell into place it made a little tick noise. Just wondering the hopping and that tick noise, how much damage will it do to the car, and what will get damaged?

its a civic man, they never die....i let my girlfriend drive my 92 hatch a while ago and she ground the **** outa every gear and stalled it like 10 times....i got pissed and took over but surprisingly everything felt the same even after i could smell burning clutch...=D

Nice sig haha, ya it was just heartbreaking to see the car bunny hopping around like a rabbit, haha. i never did anything like that to any car, thats why i was just a bit curious if he damaged the engine or something.

gears are made of very tough alloy, then heat treated and hardened. it takes a lot to break something.

just don't let your friend drive your car again. let him practice on a rental when he's out of the country.

wont' it hurt the syncros?

yeah, but it takes a lot of high RPM abuse for it to do damage. once in a while is not so bad that you'd wanna sell the car.
