Speedometer and Trip Counter

Yesterday I noticed my Trip counter and Mileage counter has stopped working. All other things on the cluster seem to be working. Just for some reason it has stopped.

I tried searching on google they say it could be the speed sensor. Any other suggestions?

thanks.

Does your speedometer still work? If so, it's not the speed sensor.

The speedometer still works. Just the Trip meter and mileage meter stopped together. it was changing from 209999 to 210000 and it stopped half way. I reset my trip meter to 0000, it doesn't move at all.

My cluster once did something like this, 3 years ago while driving out to Van from Toronto my first time the trip meter stopped at 289 as it was going to 290 and then it made a faint clicking noise and the 0 was twitching. I didn't care cause it was the trip meter and not the odometer and even then not the original cluster to the car but then last summer the last day that I drove that car before parking it for a build, on the way home the trip meter started working. Never knew what happened. I think maybe dirt or something may have gotten in there and then been knocked loose as both trips were long ones and on crazy rough roads.

The original cluster to that car the speedo and odo would occasionally stop working and I thought that it might have been the VSS but I tried and extra one I had that i knew worked and I still had the problem, turned out the head in the cluster was bad and if the speedo isn't working then the odo doesn't go either.

Should take it out and blow some compressed air around it? I hope I can fix it soon, someone wants to but my vehicle tomorrow. lol
