trying to do a spark plug install but what do they mean by the "gaps"....and how do i go about measuring the "gaps"

the gap is the distance between the elecrode and the tip of the spark plug, usually measured in thousanths of an inch or hundreths of a mm. Check with the manufacturer for the correct distance or "gap"

yeah, or if you're at a CT i think they have a manual at the store that will say how big the gap should be for your car... but to be safe i'd just look at your haynes manual (if you don't have one get one it's the best thing you've ever dreamt of!) you might find plugs that come gapped the right size for your car, or you might have to gap them yourself, and you can buy the tool at CT and it's not that expensive as i recall....

your owners manual has the GAP size

and just get one of those specialty measuring instruments for plugs
