I have a Solo in my 98Si, and I have no complaints at all. I paid $75 for it. I don't buy all this crap about them breaking and stuff. I think people shift way too hard thats all. Just my opinion.

It's happened quite often, and I wouldn't say it snaps cause people are shifting too hard. Regardless, you never hear of people breaking Skunk2 or Neuspeed ones. IMO, you get what you pay for.

Skunk2 was my first choice, but at the time I couldn't afford the $$$. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Skunk2 and Neuspeed made from steel and not aluminum? Steel=the extra strength.

yes they are made of alloy steel.
if you have ever felt the weight of a skunk2 to compared to a solo
you'll be like, omg.
the solo is almost lighter than my stock one.
but i mean you pay for what you get
and its not always the case of ppl not knowing how to drive, i'm sure everybody knows how to drive stick, but sometimes "**** happens" and that sometimes can cause a break, but mine is pretty heavy, with the whole assembly, the shift seems so smooth and solid. skunk2 shift **** and shifter.....
never tried neuspeed before, but i had fear of solo's breaking, i even heard that dc sports break as well..

Actually Kevin, I have heard of many of the Skunk2 weighted shifters breaking. All kinds of ppl break them. I don't care what kind they are, they break. Yes I have one in my car, and no it has never broken, but at some point they all fail. I personally have a B&M shifter, but I will never ever install a short throw shifter in another one of my personal cars, for many many reasons.

Talking

i saw solo short shifters at pacific mall for 65 + tax i bet i could get it for 60$ cash Speedtech sells them for 90 +20 for the poly eurothane bushing. i have seen others around too, again i doubt that you would break it, shift properly and you'll have no problems. i am going this weekend to buy mine i'll let you know what i buy i think i will go with the solo they seem pretty nice and fair priced :working:

Paid $75 including tax at importfest.....It was at the TPS booth.
I am sure they could offer the same deal if you went to the shop in newmarket.
Have heard the snapping stories, but thought it was more fiction than fact....guess not.

I really like mine though....hope it doesn't snap on me

i bought mine yesterday for 60 $ its alfa otta same company as b&m, made in california. i am going to speedtec to pick up my bushing there and will probably install it soon. They have solo's at pac mall for 60$ cash i like this one, polished and straight i don't like those curved ones. 60$ is the going rate i have never seen one snap, it's nice and light

Arrow

just put in my short shifter today took a little time but well worth the effort to do it yourself. I was only tight on space cause i didn't jack the car up that much i see about at least a 40 to 50 % decrease in the each shift All she needs now is a ZC to play along with it. If you guys have any questions about putting one in let me know it's very easy.
