its makes 119 hp at the flywheel... your honestly better off getting the dohc zc though

Blue Dream 08-Sep-2003 01:31 AM

correction, it makes 120.

same bore/stroke as d16a6, but different cam, and pistons

sohc zc is good, because there is less rotational mass on top...spinning two cams takes power...

coreyhayman 08-Sep-2003 03:47 PM

yeah im jsut askin this cuzz its what came in ym car and i didnt really know the specs on the motor itself

to all the ppl tellijn me to swap, y would i spend 1 grand to swap out a motor and oput a ne wone in to gain 10hp>?.....i mean common now, also whats the redline on this motor?.....also im pretty suire my cars chipper what the fuel cut off for this car?......89 civic si hatch with a sohc zc.....cuzz it can redline right down into 8000rpm's if i wanted

h_accordexr 09-Sep-2003 04:58 PM

i got a 90 hatch with sohc ZC motor IMO its pretty quick later on ill add maybe a si tranny now i got a dx but i dont see much diffrence mine is pretty good still

coreyhayman 09-Sep-2003 05:17 PM

mines not to bad but i woulnt all it fast, iv blew the doors off a few b18'd 5th gen hatchs.....iv got a lil **** done to my motor, ecu chipped, aem c.a.i., ractive 4-2-1 header, catco high flow cat and 2.25' piping, msd ignition and b&m fuel regulator

SilverCRXSi 09-Sep-2003 06:26 PM

I believe the revlimit is 7200RPM like the d16a6.

I think the reason ppl told ya to swap in the dohc is because most though you had the reg. d16a6 and not the sohc zc. I agree if you have the sohc zc, its not worth swapping out.

coreyhayman 09-Sep-2003 06:59 PM

yea tru, msot ppl prolly thought what u were sayin

h_accordexr 09-Sep-2003 08:21 PM

i like my soch zc good enough plus once i turbo it and cams....

coreyhayman 09-Sep-2003 08:29 PM

ya

dingus8 09-Sep-2003 09:01 PM

dont' rev past 7200 rpms.......yoru gnx wodul pumble yoru civic so......:p

coreyhayman 10-Sep-2003 05:31 PM

so what all could b done to this sohc zc to make it a lil quicker?...iv hear diof guys with these motors keeping up with.blowing away b16's is tht tru?

punkindrublic 10-Sep-2003 06:05 PM
