SOHC VTI help

I was just wondering if these specs are correct http://www.bseries.net/html/specs/benginespecs.php

I am looking the VTI engine, I thought the VTI was 1.5L making 130hp. I did not know that VTI belongs to the B series family. Is there anything I still need to know.

I am planning on the swap once I get the shell for it. The multimatic is AMAZING <---spelling----- from what I read, I did not know that Honda has this kind of technology.

By the way, is this a CIvic, looks like an Accord...

As you can see, I am researching VTI, there is so much out there I feel so damn

Hmmm...the VTi appears to be a B-series for sure. You may be thinking of a 2nd gen ZC which one of the members (BarelyLegalCivic) has in his 5th gen. IMO, this is not a worthwhile swap b/c of the lack of replacement and perf parts for it. I would stick with USDM SOHC engines (cheap, pletniful, and lotsa parts for it - *cough* turbo) Or of going N/A, then a B16A2 would be the way to go on a budget. That pic from the UK....the car is too small for an accord. UK gets special-looking sedans diff't from what we get. Like our 1.6 EL is a Civic in Europe, but it's a Domani in Japan. That's just another version of a Civic "saloon" (sedan).

True, but sometimes a DOHC is a D-series, like the ZC.

I have asked around and USDM Si are hard to come by, I have seen alot of JDM SOHC VTEC, don't know much about them, and they are around 60K km, not sure if it is true or not. That is why I need help, because I need to put the car together in a few weeks of time. I will check the engine codes and will post again.

OH yes!!! forgot to mention, JDM engines are low miles since the country (island) is so goddamn small!!! Where the hell are you gonna drive for more than 60K?? So these 60K, yeah it may be true, but it's prolly 60K of the most hardcore traffic, and the most hardcore abuse any engine could ever see. Don't forget, the Japanese are a sexually frustrated nation, so where do you think this frustration comes out?? I would not buy a JDM engine.

Guy, you are the man I feel better.

The problem right now is that the snatchback has not reply yet.

I talked to my mechanic, he said the following:

1) the car has been lowered, if you bring the car up wrong, you can run into some alignment problem. Which can cause another accident, which I don't want.

2) The car had a GSR engine in it. Vtec wires etc... which mean I have to replace to factory wires.

My main concern now is the insurance, if I put a Si motor in a DX or CX, they will not cover, and if I hit some one, I have to pay for my car and the guy that I hit. Hope not a Mercedes, BWM, or any expensive cars. I would be better off dead.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to look for a car.

The sexual frustration part is a joke, hence the if that's what you mean. If you try to tell me Japan is a big country, I'll you. So what else could you possibly be complaining about?? And don't try to tell me that the Japanese drive around with Miss Daisy while sipping on a cup of tea....they don't. Most cars that end up totalled get there for a reason, just like here...except we have a lot more careless drivers and a lot more snow and ice to deal with.

EK7_Drift, here the wiring is not really that big a deal. Actually, some junk yards should have complete uncut harnesses, or you could prolly get a brand new Honda one from the dealer for a few hundred bux. Putting it in will require stripping the dash out along with everything on it, as the harness is one of the first parts to get put in after the shell is painted at the assembly line. Actually, if a GSR motor was there, wires were added, not taken away, so a SOHC VTEC engine should still run under that harness, as long as the pinout at the ECU is fixed up. You'd have to check a wiring harness for that. As for your mechanic and the suspension talk, that's boo-sheet. Yes, you will need to get your car re-aligned. Period. There is no worry about isht falling off or something?? By the way, you never said how you managed to get drift from a 2000 year Civic. Did you have a broken tie rod or something? I don't get how it happened. BTW...why do you wanna raise the car...if it's lowered right, leave her be. Spring is gonna be here in 4 weeks. I wish I had known....I had a complete set of 2000 SiR struts and springs with 10K kms on it. I could have saved them for you.

I don't know what happened, the day was clear and the ground was all wet and that day was extremely cold. I was on the ramp to DVP I started braking and the car started sliding, and there was no control, can't recover. There could be alot of things wrong with the suspensions or the tires.

I know if you change to an Si in a DX, the engine code does not match with the car, maybe the insurance would not cover. This is a great project and I am so excited, but so many draw backs, I need to plan or discuss with the insurance guy first. I still have not got anything from the owner of the brown civic.

By the way, if the wires were added, can't I still plug the ECU (non vtec) in? I mean, if no signals are send from the ECU to the engine, then the wires are not affected right? The main concern is insurance, or I would have taken his car with the GSR. I have to drive around with a **** engine for 6 years.

The alignment: The mechanic says when the car was lowered, the alignment was corrected. But when you raise the car, the alignment is wrong again, he said some alignment problems can not be fix.

What happened to you is black ice. Not a susp problem....just shitty luck... Sorry to hear it. Insurance covers modifications as long as they are declared, but be sure to shop around, some places will cover, some won't. Everyone needs insurance. I know some guy in Ottawa who was covered by the federal gov't cause no one else would insure him...he had a turbo VR6 Golf and a horrible record, including running from the cops. That's what I was saying, the ECU will still plug in, but some pins were prolly switched around to make it work, so you just have to switch them back. Ask snatchback what was done. The alignment thing...it's still boo-sheet. Alignemnt can be adjusted with a bit of work.... I can't even inagine what he's talking about
