As fast as you want it.

Yes its easy to just swap it out, but I wana stay with my sohc, and turbo, its all up to the person.

Depends on your cash flow...sky is the limit.

Your setup may yield about 145-155whp, translating into mid-high 14 second quarter times on good tires and a good driver. Not blisteringly fast, but quick enough. Trap speeds, probably just under 100 maybe a bit more.

This is assuming you have pretty decent, conservative tuning and a good clutch.

If you are going with intercooled on 6psi, couldn't you boost it up a bit more, say, 8psi.
I read an article on a DOHC 1.6L project with, no internal swap, just used turbo and intercooler, and he did some fuel tuning, can't remember what else. Got around 200+whp maybe in the mid 200 whp, can't remember, it was so long ago. SIR has higer compression and can't run much boost, right? From the article, I know it can be done, maybe I will try to find it and post some more info. In the meantime, I know someone on this site that is doing his turbo SOHC soon. ^O--.

For sure alex.

I admit I too was one for wanting a swap, and giving up on the motor, but I soon realised that these motors have potential too, and am more than glad I took this route to stay.

Swaps are a plenty, for 30-40 more hp than the Si, but for $4-5,000 you could get a good turbo kit installed and make more HP that the swap, and more torque

i was at this years SEMA event in Vegas and there was an EG with a full built SOHC si with 12psi turbo doing 14.1
that's full built and full interior
so there's something to look at. DOHC is much easier to do a 14 sec 1320 but i agree taht its up to the driver. with a full built car it runs NICCCCCE but can easily be blown. i'm on my second SOHC as it is :working:

well my Si can hit 7250 before the limiter kicks in...i've seen SOHC's goes to 8000 rpms. you can get MSD controllers and such to prevent over reving but nothing really protects the block from going...just hope you do'nt have a heavy foot.

exactly, if i was going for pure speed and unlimited mods or whatever i'd swap but to make it just a decently fast, i'd rather get a turbo kit!!

lol we'll have to talk turbo sometime!
