funny sound?

the reason i'm doing the d16 is cause i got it for free for one... and how many all motor build d16's do you see... i can think of one thats in a drag car... and its technically a d15....

oh hahaha its impossible to do and use a civic tranny and such cause of the way it rotates... so its out of the picture cause i dont wanna deal with mounting a tranny out of something else and then axles and yadda yadda... d16 build is dirty easy and everything stays the same... well everything that visable anyways

thats no much power... no need for that... i'm actually having doubts about building the d16 now though i'm being drawn into the b series... the new crazy idea is buy a b20 block and then buy a b16 motor... then swap in the b16 crank and rods, keep the b20 pistsons (maybe get a higher compression piston) then run the b16 head... it'd be 1.8L and i'd imagine rev similarly to a b16.... wonder what that would do

i think the piston speeds would become to great running a 90mm stroke going at 9000 rpms... maybe even just having the b16 block bored out and sleeved to a similar bore as the b20

i guess i'll find out what i can do when my bank account starts getting filled up

well thats exactly it... i figure to make a 9000+rpm d16 it'd cost me about $2000-2500 depending on what deals leitner gives us

or i could spend $2000 on a b16 swap... then the reworking of that engine would depending on what crank i'd wanna use... i heard the b16a and b18b are different blocks so i supposed there is a chance the cranks aren't interchangable... i guess even a gsr crank would do the stroke thing to if it fits...

i think i'll have to give leitner a call this week and figure out how much either option will actaully cost...

the thoughts of a 2.0L screamer are drawing me in though

As for you huys who say an american motor will last longer than a Jap engine, i have a 99 civic with 320k on it and it runs like new, it has had me driving it for the last 2 and a half years and my sister for the rest, and we drive the **** out of it. and still it hasnt had a major problem yet, 85% of hondas make it to 300 k with out a major problem, while how many cavilers or sunflowers do you see with 300k

350's go for a long time, but hondas cans break 200 000 for sure almost any car can unless it's a yugo OR A FORD!

superb question!! very smart...

basically, it comes down to having more control over opening and closing of exhaust valves independent of intake valves.
