snaped timing belt

Unhappy snaped timing belt

i snaped my belt today, just wanted to tell yall, i cant wait to see the damage to my head, i was prolly in the 6000ish rpm when it broke, im hoping it didnt damage my pistons, i think my best bet is just a new head? any suggestions, im thinking theres atleast 10 valves bent with my luck :cry: :cry: :cry:

probably didn't damage your pistons...

i am, ive called some of the affiliates. what do you think my best bet is though, i can try to fix my old head, buy a used one, or buy a re-built performance one?

buy a used one... its probably only like 100-150$ at most....
if you're gonna rebuilt it... built it up while you're at the labour cost already

$150 for a b16 head? where? some guy wants $1000 for port and polished head with ctr cams, is that to expensive, i think there might be more, ill find out tomorow.

Im sorry but may I ask why you thought you could get away without changing it? Did you think that timing belt snapping and taking out valves was just a honda myth?

trust me i know now. now i read before i do anything. but i found this out while i was saving for the belt (labour), then gone. its gonna get fixed. but i just want to know whats the best for the head?

get it checked out.. its possible you didn't bend any valves, but i doubt it

well i got her back today from dave at defcon, he broke me the good news a couple days ago that it didnt damage the motor, i compressed 185 across the board and no damage on the leakdown. shes back a running!!!
