Exclamation Smokin' Engine bay :(

This morning i was driving from the K/W Area up to M.Sauga on my way up too work from my Girlfriends place. When i got off the highway at the first stoplight i noticed white smoke coming from the passenger side wheelwell. I figured it was the car next to me. I noticed it again at the next stop light. So i became concerned as there were no exhausts from anyother car. When i got to work i checked my temp gauge and it read normal. Poped the hood checked my oil, then noticed that my resivoir tank to my rad was E M P T Y. Now ive had this problem in the past where my coolant level slowly drops but i usualy top it off and its okay.

After work a buddy and me topped of the rad and the resivoir tank 1 cup water / 1 cup coolant etc we did this 3 times. Car seemed to start up fine and here i went on my trip BACK to Kitchener.

Upon pulling into the driveway i REALLY noticed the smoke this time and there was alot. The motor sounded just fine purring like a kitten. So i popped the hood with the motor turned on and it seemed that the smoke was coming / billowing out in spurts from or near the firewall. I proceeded backinto my car and noticed my temp gauge was much higher than it normaly sits. So i turned my car on immediately.

I check the rad for any leaks cracks what not and the resivoir tank is full? The only reason im getting a normal temp reading when im driving is from the airflow hitting the fins of the rad and being cooled by the rad. Can anyone suggest what may be wrong H/G? And is it safe for me to drive back another 100km or so back to my house? Thanks in advance..

Is your fan working? Also check the thermostat. It may be stuck in the close position.

Hey.
1. You should use distilled water for you rad or get the air out of it.
2. when there is air in your rad it decreases the boiling point which will cause problems.
You should take the cap off and start your car, leave it on for a while till you know the thermostat is opened so all the air gets out. You may have to flush you rad.

OK This morning to my surprise my res tank was completely empty.

It obviously leaked out over night. Now I noticed that my cat is saoked with coolant witch is probably where the smoke is coming from the o2 bung / wiring on the cat is soaked in coolant as well.

I did notice one thing on my coil pak on the fire wall theres 2 sets of wires that come out the top.. only one is connected to somthing the other is loose.. but it apears its leaking right over the collecter of the header.

It's probably one of your heater core lines or possibly the coolant feed to the TB. The lines could be old and brittle.

umm.. my fan works.

Coolant leaking onto my cat causing whtie smoke/evaporation has nothing to do with my fan turning on or off.

That link has nothing to do with my problem ?? Thanks though?

dude its not that hard to find a coolant leak. Get a leakdown test done to see if its your HG.. if not its one of the IAC hoses or heater hoses.
