hey guys whats up jus wondering if you guys can help me with a lil problem i jus recently got a 89 civic and the problem is it smells like gas in the car not a strong gas smell but enuff so u can smell jus a lil now when i got the car the other owner said it needs a fuel pump now can it be that reason it smells like gas also the car is totally gutted from no carpet to no interior in the back now i wuz wondering if that can be the reason also thanks guy if u can help me....

check your filler neck, gas tank, and fuel lines for leaks. a gasoline smell is usally from a leak and no other reason.

knowing 4th gens the lines are most likely rotten and the gas tank is rusted to sh*t at the seams

happend to my car too, i can smell gas inside my car when fill up full tank of gas

but when fill in half tank or 3/4 no smell at all

so i know somwhere is leaking but not sure where

yea i just had mine wrott out they go were they come through the undercarage just 2 the right of the tank under the back seat take that plastik stuff off and check under that



i just installed a new tank and i moved the lines and they were in mint condition under the car and seemed 2 be all good everywere else but ths 1 pipe was wiggleing 2 frealy so i took all the plastik stuff off the side of the car next 2 the seat and there was a white thing that holds all the lines together and is suposed 2 ho in a hole in the boddy but the plug was out and the line was wrotted out real bad so make shure u check everywere


they run dow the side and all the way under the carpet were the trunk opener is

if you have build up in your IM, cant that cause it to smell like gas in your car?

yeah found the problem its being fix car comes out today thanks for the help u guys
