slow throttle response on 96 civic 4dr ex

Hi, I am experiencing slow throttle response on my 96 civic ex (Auto Tranny). anybody know what's wrong with it? when i gas from a green light, I have to step harder a bit on the pedal, so getting a sticky throttle. And when I gas harder, it lags a bit like 1/2 a second and then the car would go. Does anybody know why? and what is the fix for it?

Is it just a dirty throttle or would I need to change my throttle cable? would a tune up help? car has 177,000kms on it.

Also the CEL came on for 1 week and went back off. anybody know why? I'm suspecting it's the O2 sensor in which I'll probably change it soon. and am looking to change the spark plugs and wires also.

Please let me know what I can do to fix the throttle problem.
Thanks

Tune up wouldn't hurt, and your O2 sensor is a definite possibility. If you really want quick throttle response the Port the Throttle body.
