Skunk2 Manifold

Hey, does anyone know if a Skunk2 intake manifold would give any desirable increase in power over the oem intake manifold for a gsr??

on a stock engine? or modified?
My AEBS intake manifold made a big difference over the stock b16 manifold, but my engine is pretty modified.

i'd get a header first, but ya an intake manifold will help a little. If you ask me the stock gsr manifold is a decent peice. There are lots of people putting out big numbers with the stock intake manifold, even with the secondary butterfly's in tact.

so there's really no point in spending the $$ for one, is what you're saying?? That it won't make enough power difference for the $$ spent....??

ya basically. On a stock engine, no, but on a heavily modded engine it would be worth it.

well i would get into some headwork and some more aggressive cams before thinking about changing the IM. Like i said before the stock b18c1 intake manifold is of a decent design and puts out respectable numbers on built engines.

to add to Z's comments, the AEBS IM for the P72 head is the only IM that was actually designed for the height difference in the ports of the P72 vs. PR3. the S2 P72 IM is just an ITR with P72 bolt pattern.

huh...i didn't even know that AEBS made a IM for the p72 head.
I think that its stupid how the Skunk2 IM for the p72 is just an ITR IM with p72 bolt pattern. I mean the opening for the gsr intake manifold ports are almost 1 full centimeter (its about 8mm) taller than the b16/itr.
Not to mention that the AEBS manifold is a fraction of the price of the Skunk2. I got my polished AEBS intake manifold for $175 brand new.

so what you're saying is, the AEBS intake manifold is just an ITR manifold to fit the gsr head?? and $175 is a hell of a lot cheaper than the skunk2, assuming the gains are approx. the same.

it used to be there...but i think its 20+ on a stock b18c5 engine. it is an amazing and cheap unit.

No, the Skunk2 intake manifold is just their manifold for the b16/itr with the bolt pattern of a gsr head.
The AEBS intake manifold i am using is great and can't be beat for the price. It has a 65mm opening for a larger t/b and all of the vacuum nipples on the back for a clean appearance.

wow, I've heard and seen great things about skunk2; I guess I'll look into the AEBS IM... I guess I wouldn't be lucky enough that one's for sale on here to fit the B18C1 gsr head eh??

I was just on their site and they specifically say "not gs-r head", but make one for the B16 and B18C5.... :|
