SiR running rich

Ok

I had my car in the shop getting the t-belt & 96k service done it. My tech noticed that my car is running a bit rich. Just for kicks he does emissions test for free.

Here are the results:

rpm 742
HC 432
CO2 15.0
Vac "HG 0
CO 0.11
02 0.34
Temp 94 C
A/F ratio 14.6

RPM 3270
HC 70
CO2 15.4
Vac "HG 0
CO 0.07
02 0.06
temp 96 C
A/F ratio 14.7

When I got my car back in March 04 I passed an gov e-test w/o any problems. Here are the results from that test:

RPM 750
HC 0
CO% 0.04
dilution 15.2 what is this?

rpm 2356
HC 0
CO% 0.02
NO 0
Dilution 15.2

My tech gave me some Lucas Injector cleaner. Also he said it could be my 02 sensor on it's last leg or my PCV valve(?) Do B16a2 have a pcv valve?. He also said my plugs are 'black'. I haven't checked them yet myself.

My ECU isn't tossing any codes (yet). I'm using the correct grade of fuel ie. mostly 91 Petro and sometimes 94 Sunoco. I'm using Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic oil.

I just want some input before I drop $300+ for an 02 sensor from Honda.

Yeah I just took a quick look a few days ago and I didn't noticed anything that looked like a PCV valve. I'll take another look tomorrow. Plus I'm going to check my plugs and see if they have the correct gap.

Sure I could go the aftermarket route for the o2, but I prefer only OEM parts for my car.

the A/F ratio seems good though.. doesn't look like you're running rich. 14.7:1 is right at the stoichiometric point.

PCV valve is in the intake manifold in between the runners. Its the little 90 degree plastic piece under the fuel rail and there is a vacuum hose that goes from the pcv to the oil seperator box on the back of the block. Change that and see if it helps.

What a nice place to have it. Nice & hidden.

PCV was $24 taxes in for OEM.

Just curious about sparkplug gap. What is the factory sparkplug gap settings?

platinum plugs you don't have to gap, but you also shouldn't be using platinum plugs in a B16A anyways

I checked the owners manual for sp gap. NOPE. I totally forgot about the under hood sticker.
DoH!

Which is 1.2 to 1.3 mm

Platinum plugs are required 'according to the owners manual' for a b16a2. Don't gap plat. plugs? hmmm

plat plugs do NOT get gapped... and B16A cars don't use platinum plugs. on the underhood sticker, it will tell you what NGK part number to use for the spark plug, and the gap is for THAT plug number.

B16a's use NGK BKR6E-N11 plugs which are pre-gapped to 1.1mm

I wouldnt recommend using anything else.
