take a look at speedy auto that's were i got my mufller, price is not bad ,it's a dual tip stainless steel muffler, as long u keep the resoner and the cat u should be ok, and if u keep the same pipe it's a bit better to, but i sure went with the 2 1/4" stainless still

Isn't a type-r exhaust 2 1/4?

bogged down at the end... how much wider u need? planning a turbo?

nah i aint planning a turbo...
pure motor,
im prolly going with the 2.25 inch... any objections?

but i was wondering if the stock sir muffler would be fine to complete the exhaust system...

doesnt seem so, i'll go checkout that dynomax superturbo for now... but if i put on a GSR or type R muffler, would that "bog it down"?

He isnt going turbo he said...
Also 2.25 sounds fine....i would try and find a Type R exhaust, cause it will mate up to the piping no problem and is the best flowing stock exhaust for hondas.

Just got a dynomax superturbo installed on my hatch on the advice of some pple here. ABSOLUTELY FREAKING LOVE IT!
Replaced a Vibrant straight thru that just got too loud for my tastes. The superturbo has a nice deep sound for city driving... not loud.. and as quiet as stock when you hit the highway.
Sweet azz bump for Dynomax... 200 installed at Hot Rod Scott's.

coincidence

Last weekend, I got sick of my loud exhaust. It sounded really nice in the city, but when I drive on the highway, it drones and makes me get headaches... (I've been driving far for work lately).

I threw it out on Saturday (only 4 months old, still mint), and immediately went looking around for a Dynomax super turbo muffler. I couldn't find one, and also didn't want to risk it still being "too loud" for my tastes... so I broke down and got.... guess what muffler... a muffler from NAPA that was huge but had the right offsets.... a replacement muffler for a Mercury Capri or cougar... lol It actually fits! (But the tailpipe ended pointing straight up into the air! ya ya, I quickly ghetto fixed that with a grinder.) It was the best fitting muffler, which I hand picked from their back room of hanging mufflers.

The inlet/outlet was 2.25 so I was happy, plus it was relatively cheap ($75). This matches my bent 2.25 piping everywhere else.
(Which was a huge improvement over the aftermarket "stock" 1.5 inch piping I had previosly, with a B18B! Choke choke!)

I bought some clamps, a coupling/adapter, and then threw it on in haste and mig welded some hangers. Its positioned too far back and looks awful... I'll fix its appearance when I get more time...

The weird thing is, that my performance has definetly improved!!! I would have guessed that the loud - no-name-3-chamber performace muffler I had on prior to this would be noisier but faster, but this quiet setup I now have is amazing.

My car is stealthy quiet, and it still seems obscenely fast. I swear I have more torque at low rpm's too. I was semi-unintentionally peeling out in 3rd gear, and that never happened so easily before!

I guess just proved to myself that crappy-no-name three chamber performance mufflers are trash, and even a stock big-*** american car muffler outperforms that!

I think that I might simply have gotten lucky with a chance combination of pipe sizing, resonance frequency, placement of the components (resonator, cat, muffler) etc., which has now given me a better "tuned" exhaust.
