siezed bolt help
 

okay i was trying to get my fill hole bold off my transmission to change the tranny oil, but it wouldnt budge. i put a wrench on and then used a homemade breaker bar, and the wrench just slipped and rounded the bold edges. i tried a few more times but it just keeps slipping and i tried the next smallest size but it wont fit. now i'm stuck. i tried heating it with a propane torche but no luck. oh and theres not enough space to fit a socket wrench in there. any help much appreciated!

The first mistake is you probably were using a cheap wrench, the only time to use a wrench use a snap on one because they fit better. Or if you dont have the 60$ for the snap on put a six point socket on there it will probably work, I know there may not be enough room to fit the socket and ratchet it may interfear with the subframe the only other option is to use a six point wrench, you can get them at any tool store.

seing as that nut is rounded now, go to sears and buy theyre rounded nut remover, its like 20 bux and comes with a few different sizes, it is meant for that specific purpose, they are made my craftsman, i got mine for christas and still havent used em :D Ill let u borow em if u want

which bolt are you trying to undue

you said changing the tranny oil, is it MANUAL or AUTO

if its manual you should have a 3/8" socket sqaure hole, you dont need a socket for it just stick the wrench in

thanks guys, its the fill hole on the manual tranny, i guess i'll have to go to sears and get the bolt remover or look for a set of six point wrenches

I think he is reefing on a a bolt that mounts the tranny to the engine...cuz the dran plug has no head for a wrech to fit on at all...its round with a socket fitting...interesting LOL

ok now this the ***** way of taking stripped bolts off but it works
get two visegrips
- use one for the bolt
- and use the other to tighten the visegrip on the bolt
sounds confuzing but never has failed me....

The bolt that is being referred to is not a bolt its really a filler cap. the filler is the 17mm plug on the side of the tranny. The drain bolt is the socket type. the other thing you could do is get your air hammer and push it loose or remove the starter and fill from the shifter return spring access plug. that is the 19mm under the starter.

Whats wrong not stong enough to tighten the visegrips with your hands?:p

you could always remove the vss and fillit that way too, you need a long extension though, ive used my 4ft 3/8" extension to do this

just make sure you dont drop any garbage or dirt into the tranny though

well I am, but i dont like ripping my shirts

ok i got it off finally today, i first tried hitting the edge of the bolt with a chizel which didnt seem to work, and the i took a wrench i think it was 11/16 and forced it onto the bolt with a hammer.... but i didnt think it was going on far enough but i tried to turn it anways and it came off so easy ... i think the hitting it with the chizel loosend it up. then i replaced the bolt with a brand new one from honda which they had to get shipped here from vancouver... dont ask me why
i drained the oil and filled it with honda mtf so smooth, and i think my third gear grind is gone now too.
now that thats out of the way i can work on finishing the millions of other things i'm doing to my whip
