Short Shifter Install/Urethane bushings?

My g/f is amazing!! she bought me a TWM short shifter, and a Momo shift **** for valentines day... but now comes installing it... i'm just wondering if anyone has any tips for install... the shifter came with some instructions but i'd rather have them from someone who's done it before on here... how long? is it hard? etc stuff like that... Also can i just put the front end of the car on jackstands? or do you have to raise up the whole thing to disconnect the shift linkage.... any info would be great...

oh and what kind of urethane bushings are best?? and where can i pick them up..would a dealer have them?

TIA guys!

i actually picked one up today aswell, its pretty straightforward. Take your exhaust off one of the hangers. Then theres 5 bolts to take off

loudsubz, ryanhook and I did 2 shifters with the bushings in a few hours. You just need to jack up the front of the car. Un-bolt the exhaust helps, but isn't totally necessary. In both cases, we took out the entire shift linkage to make things easier. It's a pretty easy mod to do. My car is the same as your's, so loudsubz can help for sure. Ryan and I both have the ES bushings. I can get the bushings from a local shop for around $18. I owe Matt a set, so if you can wait a few days, I'll see if I can get 2 sets.

the install is very easy on piece of advice when tightening the cross bolt throught the shifter and linkage try and not tighten it to much if possible try and add an exra nut on the other side of bolt to lock it nicely add it wont start to feel loose after a month or 2 .hope that help the fine tuning of your short shifter

I prolly wouldn't be able to get them till the beginning of the week anyway. I'm 99.9% positive they sell them at PI, but they are around $30. Yeah, adjusting the bolt for the shifter takes some time to get it to feel right. I had to loosen mine a bit because the shifts were way too tight after we did the install.

Alex, this might be something that you'll have to wait for the warmer weather to do... unless you have a warm garage to work in. It's going to be cold this weekend (-15 C on Sunday!).

Ryan, bring it over one day and we'll tighten it right up. You can reach it without even jacking up the car.

Is it there Classic or FS series? I installed there Classic in my car along with some Energy Suspension bushings and I love it.

Look at around 1.5hrs depending if your used to working on your car.

i have the base here, would have to p/u the add-on but it's pretty readily available......

so if any of my other "friends" need some just holler..
turn around would only be a couple of days
and that would of course be gratis

(key word is friends..everyone else is shyt outta luck)

make sure u dont tighten the shifter to lshift link bolt too tight or it will feels stiff and slow shifts, on the flipside dont leave it too loose ore it will rattle like a ****... I used the oem rubber spacers that go inbetween the shifter bearing and the shift linkage (was a pain to get them in there tho) Otherwise u will likely get some rattleing... but im not sure on your partiular shifter it may have them already.

biggest problem for me is that I'm a dumbass.... I dunno why, it just too extraordinarily long for me to install mine, but there was no one part of the project that takes long. just if your exhaust gets in the way, you may have to unbolt it a little or loosen some hangers.
