Question Shocks and springs for 4th Gen

Hi There,
I am thinking of getting new shocks and springs (or whatever is needed) for my 89 Civic H/B. For those who knows me, my car is completely "stock". So what would you suggest + How much would that cost roughly to replace the suspension system?

Any shop that you would recommend me to call?

BTW, I am not a Hardcore racer, I am just want to see what option I have other than buying the OEM.

Thanks!

For your application, 99-00 Si springs OEM of course for $60 off classifieds, and Koni red shocks = Awesome budget setup. If you want to change the way the car feels, 99-00 Si front springs, and DC2 ITR springs in the rear - same shocks. I don't recommend running SiR springs or integra springs in the front due to the extra weight of the B-series that's built into the suspension. Those springs in the front would make the car understeer even more. I also recommend getting Energy Susp bushings all around to make your car feel like new.

you just looking for the springs? If so you can find them cheap sometimes, less than $60, depends on who is selling them

the Koni Reds you can grab for less than $400 for a set if you look around.

Hi Matt,
To be honest...I have "zero" knowledge on Suspension stuff.
As you know, my car is 14yrs old. Recently, I found the ride is to bumpy. So I think the suspension system is worn out need to be replaced.

Here is my "Junior" question...what do I need?

Is springs = coilover?
Shocks = ?

Koni Red one set = all 4 or else!

btw, I heard that you are pretty good with that, how much would you charge? PM me if you prefer...Thanks!

regards,
Mugen C

True Coilovers

Are you wanting to replace your current setup with a better handling and lower ride? Or like the height but just want it to be all smooth again from factory?

Mugen C... lemme give you a basic breakdown for your susp.

There are multiple components that work together. How much are you willing to spend?? 1st of all - ALL 88-00 Civic springs are interchangable. AND del Sol AND integra ones too. NOT so for the shocks. You want an OEM ride with no lowering, you get 99-00 Si springs with only marginally stiffer rates and the same handling characteristics as your current ride - just not as saggy as your 14 year old springs. And your worn out dried up bushings - those could use replacement. This is not as easy as a shock/spring change, but it will exponentially improve the feel of your old chassis. Also, make sure your front end is in good shape - ball joints upper and lower, wheel bearings, and tie rods must all be in top notch shape. After all is good, align it, and it will feel/ride better than new. Throw some sticky tires on it, and you'll outhandle M3s

what shuld i do first?
Springs?
What kind should i be looking into
and after springs what's next?
could someone walk me through a suspension upgrade from springs to tie bars.
im looking for something for street that's not to expensive, id like to drop my car a little and improve the handling.
