Shifting make noise
Hi, everytime I do my shift, most noticable in 2nd 3rd and 4th gear, it sounds like my shifter is hitting something. it sounds like if you had 2 steel bars and tap them together, that's the sound you get, a "pinging", "clicking sound". the shifting itself is fine, goes in fine but wondering what might the shifter be hitting or perhaps it's something else altogether that's making that sound?
thanks for your help |
go under the car, odds are those lil rubber washers that you put between the shifter and the rest of the shifter assembly have thinned out.... it'll be obvious to you once you are under the car and start disassembly. it's either that, or your hitting the exhaust on the shifter.
in my case it was the washers. |
thanks for the reply. i looked under the car and saw those rubber washers but i can't do anything else but that in my driveway.
is there anyone or place in the Oakville area hat can have a look at this for me? i would just bring it to a reg shop but then they will probably ripp me off ! thanks |
you can change yours yourself man, it's not that hard just buy what you need take out your shifter boot and everything around it....
oh ya i hade ramps i put my car up on..hmm....you have nothing like that? no big ASS jack or anything?? because it's a waste of money to let a shop do that kind of a quick job you know? |
so it can be done inside the car? as long i can do that then i'll do it. i thought you can only access that from underneath? can someone confirm this before i start taking the boot off and going crazy only to find i need to get under? :) thanks for the help !

you'll have to go under, get some jacks and some jack stands and do it yourself, it's easy and for the price you pay for the jack + stands you'll still be saving money compared to having a mech do it for u..
|
ull need to go underneath teh car. take your honda jack out of your truck and jack the car up, put some blocks of wood un der or something to be safe and go under to check it out.
