Shifting!!

There is another similar thread up now this one is a bit different. My problem is when I try and go into 5th gear when im rippin it in 4th it feels like it grinds it's way in. When I am cursin in 4th and switch to 5th there is no problem. I thought I was low on Tranny fluid and I was filled that up and still have the problem!

What do you think it could be?

you ripping it?

what the heck do you expect out of a stock tranmission built for for a daily commuter?

...when would your shift times from 4th->5th ever really matter anyway? I know merging onto the highway can be a pain sometimes but I highly doubt the few milliseconds you save destroying your tranny is worth the extra nanoseconds you shave off your merge time.

solution? just take it easy. or rebuild your tranny with some hi-tech 3 stage synchros.

better yet, get an automatic haha.

Now from someone who knows something about the topic !

Sorry I may have not made my post clear, After my swap was done driving on the way home back from the shop I noticed it when I was testing out the vtec on the highway!

He said the tranny was in perfect condition! This only happens from 4th to 5Th

short shifter? when my short shifter was rubbing on the exhaust 4-5 and reverse sometimes were hard to engage, after I fixed the clearance issues it was fine.

It could be the 4th gear syncro. I don't really think your mechanic knows whether a tranny has grinds or not especially if it a JDM motor. You never really know until you drive it. It could also be the clutch master cylinder has low hydraulic pressure causing the clutch to not engage properly. But I'd go with the first reason.

A common fix. GM syncro mesh tranny fluid. The grinds are gone. If you want to really fix the syncro, then take it to a tranny shop.
