use an 8mm wrench, located the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder infront of the transmission right besides the 'L-shape boot". Pump up the pedal a few times, then hold it down and get a buddy to crack open the bleeder screw, see if theres any air in the system. If there is.. it'll make a pop, or come out in 'shots" kinda like when you **** off. If there is no air in the line.. it'll come out like when you ****, a stready stream. If it appears there is no air.. pump it up a few times (with it closed of course) and repeat it a few times just to make sure. As you do this, the clutch pedal should be becoming firmer as well..

Like Chris said, bleed your slave. If that doesn't fix it, you may want to try loosening up the bolt that holds your shifter to the shift linkage. If you over tighten that it will make it hard to get the car into gear. Just dont loosen it so much that it falls off.

has the ever been the cause? Seriously (i'm not making fun, i'm actually curious). I wouldn't think an 8mm (?) bolt could be overtightened to a point where it would be hard to shift..

Seriously, I have come across several people that have experienced the problem, including myself. If the bolt is overtightened, it is very hard to go into gear. In my case I couldn't get it into any gear. But you have to loosen it just a little bit. Too much and the shift linkage will fall to the ground while you are driving.....not that it happened to me

It doesn't sound like his problem since he probably never tightened the bolt in the first place, but its worth a try if all else fails.

did you figure out what the problem was? I have the same stiff shifting. Someone bled my slave cyclinder but that didn't fix it.

That is actually one way of getting a firmer shifting "feeling".

But do what Chris suggested first, bleed the clutch line. Then see if the bolt needs adjustment and possibly, add some grease to the bushing.

you sure he bled it properly? 9/10 its air in the line, so double check by re-bleeding. Make sure the floor mat is not blocking clutch pedal travel, if that fails, do what nova dust said.

I took apart the console beneath the shifter, sprayed the shift lever housing with white lithium grease and now it shifts better than ever. I was surprised that this was my problem... I thought it was further down the gearshift mechanism.
