Okay, so I guess I'm just gonna drive it for now as is...is there a problem driving it as is...or will it mess up something else?

Yes, it does stop spinning when the car isn't moving and your foot's on the clutch. Takes a few seconds. If it's still rotating somewhat, the syncros stop the rest of the motion when you put it in gear.

If it didn't and the tranny is still rotating in full force with the engine, then every time you'd go to put it in 1st or reverse you'd get a nice *GRIIIIIND*....
