shift **** n transmission question
hey, i read about this two days ago, but forgot where and couldnt find it with a search...if the shift **** is shaking when sittin there, what's loose? some bearings or somethin?
oh and, my synchros are goin...like when i shift in high RPMs it grinds sometimes...my friend suggested that i just drive it until i find another tranny or until it goes and drop in a new tranny later...any recommendations? what bout this GM Synchromesh i've heard of? can i get it at Canadian tire? is it good?
and if i'm better off gettin the transmission inspected, any reputable affiliates of TorontoCivics?
AND lol are there any (better) transmissions that can be installed on the d16y8 engine? eg like a GSR tranny or anythin? or would that not make sense?

ah ok, well it doesnt shake much, just like...normal i guess? i was just wonderin...how about the transmission? would i be better off lookin for another tranny? or gettin it repaired...and how long would the mechanic take on average?...couple days? few hrs? i'm tr yin to decide whether the cost on fixing it, would pretty much be the same as puttin in another tranny...

dude, i gave my last d-series tranny away to the wreckers... just ask around and look for ppl doing swaps with the extra parts...
and no, don't get it repaired... i bet you could get a decent working one for 250...

hey, i read on honda-tech that it could be something as simple as the transmission fluid...n tha ti should change that first just in case before doin anythin drastic...so i'll probably do that since it isnt hard to do/check, but what should i use? the manual says to use only Genuine Honda Transmission fluid...is there any other kind that is equivalent or better at Canadian Tire? lol i live right by one so i'd rather go to crappy tire than to honda, and honda's probably more expensive. and how many litres would i get? or bottles?

it's always a good idea to do the simplest thing first and that would be to change the fluid. Synthetic or regular motor oil is an option and acceptable but I personally stand by the Honda MTF. You will need no more than 2 litres.
To answer your other question about dseries trannies. The y8 tranny is probably by far one of the better ones. Unless of course you can get your hands on a jdm dseries tranny with lsd!! SEXXY!!
