shaking

I could really use some advice here.

My civic begins to shake at highway speeds. It starts small in the glove box.

About 5km/h higher and I feel it up my seat. About 5km/h higher and I feel it in the back seats.

One mech. said the front wheels are attached just fine and that it's probably the tires.

Anyone got some advice?

so if your mechanic looked at the car and says the wheels are on there fine then why not listen to him and check the tires . . 10 bucks to have them balanced . . .. .

ya my guess is the tires need balancing or you need an alignment

how does that makes sense? if its the tires the faster you go the more you notice the problem.
i need an alignemtn and the faster i go the more it pulls to the right.

he even said the faster he goes the more things start to shake.

Most likely you tires are unbalanced or your alignment is off as zeeman suggested.

If this problem is due to balancing, then Capthowdy is correct. It will stop if you go faster. My friend had the same problem with his tires. Going 120km/hr you could feel it, and if he went 140km/hr there would be no more shaking.

I dunno exactly how it works, but it works. I thought it was a little wierd at first, but I experienced this, and I speak from experience not just from opinions.

Either way, if its a balancing problem, you should get it fixed. Going faster doesn't fix the problem. Its a temporary solution if you don't want to feel the shaking.

That only happens when your braking. He's talking about vibrations while driving, and not while braking.

From what you guys are all saying Canadian Tire just didn't balance them right. Since it started when I had them repair one and balance it on warranty which is now up.

And yes it goes away about 20km/h faster then the mid point.

Thanks guys.

if ur runnin after market wheels sometimes the centres dont line up.. in most cases you should get centre rings or spacers to compensate for the gap..
