setting timing

setting timing

what should a b16a1 be at? (16*?) and what does the mark on the engine look like.. I see the ones on the pully.. my car is set at 18 right now if im looking at the right mark is that advance or retarted?

the mark on the timing belt cover is like a triangle shaped line thats about 2" or so long.
The mark you wanna line it up (to be at 16 degrees BTDC) is the middle mark of the 3 close together ones on the crank pulley.

i did all that but what i wanted to know if the 18* is advanced or retarted.. and what should b16a1 be at? what degre?

It should be at 16 degrees.. If yours is set at 18 then its advanced. Also, don't forget to stick a jumper on the two prong service wire by your ECU to set the timing correctly.
