serious oil leak
hey guys my car has been leaking oil for a while now like quite a bit of it and i thought it was coming from my oil pan so i replaced the gasket and it hasnt leaked around there but instead it is leaking right underneath the oil filter. Ive wiped it clean and after i go for a drive i will find a puddle of oil sitting on some sort of ledge almost thats part of the block. Now ive checked all the oil feed lines and pressure sensors and its not leaking from there so where could it be coming from maybe the part where the filter attaches to is warped causing it to leak???

is the filter on properly? ie. not cross threaded?
|
Any Chance you have 'two' rubber seals from the filter installed?

if the filter was cross threaded or double gasketed all the oil would come out of the engine in a minute. Since there is no seal really and with such high oil pressure at start-up you would really know somethings wrong.
It's either, its dirt contaminated, or its something else, valve cover, oil line, etc. |
no theres not two oil seals on there and i checked the pressure sensor and its dry....

well obviously its coming from somewhere.
Grab a can of brake clean and throughly clean the area. Then run the car for a bit, revving it at whatever rpm you'd like then re-check. It's not hard to find the source of a leak... Its either from the oil line, t-fitting, oil filter, valve cover, excessive pressure may be blowing out of your crankcase through a pcv port or something as well. |
cam seals? Doubut it, but you never know
take the timing belt covers off and inspect there as well, clean if needed and run like cris said. only way to reall find out |
