Seized spark plugs
 

I was changing my spark plugs but found that 2 are seized. Any suggestions on how to get them out.

penetrating fluid and patience.
Make sure the engine is nice and cold before going at it.
Try using a breaker bar, or attach a longer peice of pipe over the end of the ratchet for more leverage.

But what are the chances that I might strip the threads or break the plug??

DO NOT USE BRUTE FORCE

just work it abit at a time loosen tighten litle by little penetrating lube etc. take your time

Just don't use too much force like dingus888 said. The last thing you want to do is to have to worry about getting a broken spark plug out or having to put a helicoil in b/c you damaged the threads.
Patience is key, let it soak with penetrating fluid, try it. If it doesn't budge, spray some more penetrating fluid on it and let it sit for a while. Then try again, repeat as necessary, it will come out, it just takes times.

haha we broke a spark plug in a head once. snapped right off. good times.

I would do it with the engine warmed up, and with lots and lots of penetrating lube. good luck.

just curious what kind of penetrating fluid do you need? Name? Brand? where can you get it?

The plugs were replaced by myself 2.5 years (40,000 km) ago. I used anti-seize but I didn't have a torque wrench. I have been replacing spark plugs for over 20 years and this has never happened before.

how did it go?

did u let the pen. fluid soak? (just so others can search and find it)

I sprayed the plugs down with WD40 and then let them sit for a couple of hours to soak and make sure that the engine was totally cooled down. The plugs came out fairly smooth.

Like I said, this has never happened to me before. The only thing that I did different last time I changed the plugs was to use anti-seize compound?????
