Seeking help on installing H&R springs

is there anyone experienced with lowering a car? I saw a article describing how to lower a car with springs and it seems really easy to do. Can anyone give me some assistance?

That's right. I heard of some guy trying to install his own springs, but ended up killing himself cuz the spring shot right at his body or something like that.

You can rent a spring compressor at Parts Source for sure, I think Crappy tire also rents them out but not 100% sure on them.

A compressor is a must!

Yup, Crappy Tire rents them out as well.

Crappy tire has them for free.....but trust me it sucks...HEAVY MANUAL LABOUR....even the ones you rent from stevenson's rent-all this require muscle. It will take you about 2 hours to do the first, 1.5 hours for the second and about 45 minutes for the last two(now that you have learned what to do.
This can be longer if the springs & shocks have been on the car for some time.....years of corrosion and rust can make it dam near killer.
I think there was a guy that posted on the board a shop that does it for $150....but the choice is yours.
If you do go this way plan a day of work (and three days of crapping arm muscles) and be sure to have the car properly jacked and secure. Remember to RTFM on the spring compressor manual and don't rush.
Good luck

RTFM...

Isn't that a computer term????

Used frequently....

thanks alot you guys. i know the dangers of installing the springs myself, but i know that it can also be safe if done right. SO thats why i am seeking help on installing the springs so i can save myself some $$$. Please....i hope someone can give me a hand for installing the springs.

imported_streetXtreme 21-Jul-2002 02:05 PM

so is there anyone familiar with installing the springs???

imported_Tmak 21-Jul-2002 04:11 PM

My suggestion is if you don't know how to do it.... bring it to a shop and have professionals do it for you.

Not worth risking your own life doing something you're not sure how to do.

imported_streetXtreme 22-Jul-2002 01:12 AM

ok........thanks thomas. ....i think i've decided to waste the money and get it done by the pros. so do you know any place that can do it for cheap?

scott@hondaracing.com

Scott's work is *very* reasonable and excellent. Did my springs for a song and in about 60 minutes.

He does lots of work for Club Si members, from springs to complete engine swaps. After a degree and applying to law school, I guess mechanic stuff is easy for him.

He's doing my shox this week. I'm very picky.
