Seek for power
Dxxx, after invest so much in swapping Gsr break into my EK, ( It make so much difference) and read all these post. I really want to increase power for my b16a2. I only have short ram intake and exhaust. I want to increase about 20 HP what's my best buy? I am really confused now, because I need to drive the car daily, so I need to make a balance, between power and fuel consumption. There are two thoughts in my head.
The first set is : a really good header and a larger Throttle body.
The second ideas is: cam and valve train. or even CTR piston.
my budget is around 1000 to 1500
what can I do
thanks

I would recommand a decent header, CTR intake/GSR exhaust cams, ITR fuel pump, and dyno tuning. You could do all of the above yourself (maybe except tuning). Even if not, cams installation should not be that expensive.

With 1500....I would install header, high-flow cat (that will take up about 500) with the rest I'd to cams, springs & retainers and do some dyno tuning.....That'll give you a nice gain...

good luck getting cams/valve springs/retainers plus install and dyno tuning for $1000.
I paid $950 for my cams/springs/retainers...but they retailed for $1450....then i had to buy $200 ferria valve locks bc i couldn't use the stock ones with these retainers. And of course some adjustable cam gears, so really dial in the cams (about $200).
The only way he'd be able to get all of that done, is if he used ITR cams, installed them himself (with stock valve springs) and then went for a dyno tune. Youl could probably get a header for $400 (vibrant j-spec) and a high flow cat (about $100), but unless he can weld up a flange for the cat (so that the header bolt up to it) and weld the cat to the rest of his exhaust, he's gunna have to pay for install....which we be prolly around $150.

unless your getting them used they're still about $500-650.
ITR valve springs/retainers aren't cheap either, about $350 new from acura, used you could prolly pick them up for about $100.
But then you'll need the specialty DOHC valve springs compressor, or pay someone $300 to install the valve springs/retainers and cams.
Either way, its a pipe dream, getting a header/cat, cams/valve springs/retainers installed and tuned for $1500....even if you're using used parts.

search man.
The "stage" of a cam doesn't really effect the price too much.
You can get pretty much any cams you want from UGR for $500 US, they're rip offs but they're the same specs, just with UGR's name on them.

at that kind of investment, you might as well shell out a few hundred more bucks and just boost it.

Man, with how many daily driven, year round turbo cars i've tuned/worked on lately it makes me want to boost my car so damn bad.

no andrew! no!
finish your lsV.
Or wait.. dont you have the wife's EG now? If so use that as a daily and boost the b16

well the price of the cams don't change TOO MUCH.
But with anything other than a stage 1 cam you'll need to change the valve springs/retainers...which drastically increases the price of your "cam swap".

I don't get the wifes EG hatch until she buys a new car, which will prolly be once the warmer weather comes around and shes sick again of not having a/c in her car.
Boost....BOOST!!!
