Seafoam: Negative Results?

Seems like its all praise for seafoam, but on another forum I mentioned I was going to try it and some thought it was "snake oil" and one person even mentioned they had to rebuild an engine down the road after using it, so this makes me wonder. Anyone have any problems after using seafoam in there car?

Any long term users?

i've used it and it must work b/c you should see how much it smokes after putting it in the intake manifold. It loosens all of the carbon deposits and burns it off.
two thumbs up from me.

ok did more research, seems the negative results are few and far between, and usually caused cause the carbon buildup was preventing leaks, and after it was cleaned out from the seafoam, leaks appeared, which is what can happen.

dunno, I get the feeling that the store orders it themselves rather than stocking it as part of NAPA inventory. just call around to a bunch of places.

i went to napa. i don't know which one you went to but the manager of the oakville store told me that neither that one or mississauga ones carry them. she told me that it was just a states thing. the guy i spoke to at carquest told me sea foam was exclusive to them in canada but iuno. i used it on my car with 280xxxkms??? and no problems at all, smoother idling, better throttle response, my throttle used to be stickier but now it's good as new. as for oil burning it still burns a little bit of oil but i'm almost pushing 290xxx so i can't expect much out of the motor. the motor seemed to have been maintained well, it had 270xxx on it when i first bought it. i was scared like you to but i just said to hell with it and fed that sucker with seafoam.

That often eh... I thought it was more like once a season thing. But your right, the oil gets really dirty after you do it. So its probably better to do it right before an oil change

Ive used it twice. Had no problems at all. Just change your oil and your spark plugs after using it.
