ok, im going to admit im 18 and i suck at spelling, passed high school.. next year go to collage.

ok well all my friends make fun of my 4 door civic ek. i love the stupid thing haha. i have always wanted a civic ek since i was like 12 or so. i like dogs, they like windows. thust the 2 door. ok getting on with it.. not a daiting sight.. only guys here haha.

well i have my ek and it is mint no rust 280kms but runs like a champ. i want to do a b18 swap in it.

well im going to get a cheap 500$ civic soon im good at body work so i dont care about civic rust haha. i was wondering what motor should i use when im going to do a rwd conversion to it. im not stupid.. i can do it. i was thing a black top from a 240.. i would be harder to do because the computer but great power to weight.. i was also thinking of a 350 chev or a 305...?

I'd try to get my hands on an S2000 drive train and graft it in.

Really, any rwd engine and drive line can be made to fit. Some things to keep in mind is the rear axle width. Don't want the rear tires sticking out the sides too far. Maybe try and find a rear end that's approximately the same wheel track as the civic.

You'll have to do a lot of cutting and welding. I don't know what sort of mechanical engineering knowledge you have, but that's what my background is, and you'll need to pay extra attention to the structural integrity of the car as the body is the frame. You'll need to fabricate structural components to mount some sort of rear sub-frame. I could go on....lol. It'll be A LOT of work.

Any engine will do, as long as it fits under the hood. One engine that is compact and powerful is the LS series V8 from GM. Guys swap this V8 into everything. It's found in the corvette, camaro and a whole slue of other GM products. For engine management, I wouldn't worry about the ecu as you can get full tune-ability in a stand alone ecu setup called megasquirt. It's very inexpensive considering what you get and what you can do with it.

Well, good luck and keep us up to date with your plans. If you do go through with this, I'd love to see it take form. Keep in mind this is going to cost A LOT and will take a lot of careful planning.

May I ask: why do you wish to convert a civic to rwd? Wouldn't it be more practical to buy a similar sized rwd sedan? (BMW 3 series maybe?). If it's the handling of the civic you don't like, that can be fixed. If it's the power you don't like, there are a million options for that as well...

well in the summer i worked at a scrap yard and the guy said any motor trans/wireing i want i can have for 50$, there is a b18a1 in a teggy that im getting, i like rebuilding engines so i will be building that up (port and polish, eagle rods, pistons..) there is lots of 350's there already pulled out because they have the turbo transmission, i wouldn't want that though because the automatic.
i fabricate stuff all the time, i dont like buying bold on stuff. right now im helping a friend make a mini coupe Vtec there is more braces on that than my civic would need. i would probably put a full out racing cage in it.. i can weld really good, i just have never tried to weld aluminum.

sorry i always get off track, the big reason i want to have a rwd civic is.... that there is so many civic's out there, you only see them on the street/ 1/4 mile or at shows you never see them doing a drift competition on youtube there is a rwd civic with a red top in it drifting, just watching that car going around i knew i needed to do its. ive had to watch that video 100 times

right now i got layed off my actual job so im going to get the civic and motor soon im thinking of going with a 2 door ek 99-00 my 96 can have a different heart transplant

im not one of those kids that just talk, when i want something done ill get it done even if i have to sit on the computer for hours looking up every little thing about it, i have a bad memory so i wright everything down if i see something done i could replicate it it might take me a long time but i never rush things,

im working at a suspension shop right now with pits, he is my friends dad. if i cant figure something out we go to tim's for a coffee with 2 clip boards and figure the stuff out be can bounce ideas off each other till i know what/how to do it. all he works on is transport trucks so its not like i can just get the right suspention for my car, he deals in springs only. if i wanted to i could put some soft springs in it and weld/ brace brackets to the sub frame. then it would be really high in the back so ill just put the axle on top. only thing about that is what kind of handling would it have

ok the old b2000 has a inline 4 carbed they souned awesome and there really small, then i could still say i have a 4 banger civic but it wont have enough power. maybe a ranger 4L or 3L they 96 style. they have lots of power 2 of my friends have them and they sound awesome to and its a V6

if i did the 4 banger ill turbo it, i can turbo stuff, first thing i ever turboed was my lawn mower haha, it worked to. the scrap yard has lots of rangers and b2200's ill list a bunch of cars he has i can use.

f-150 5L, ranger's 4L, old Toyota cileca ?L, chev s-10 2.8L, mazda trucks, there is lots just need to go through the pile,

Search google. There was a guy who took prelude front subframe, welded it in the back of an integra. Ran h22 in it but could be any engine really. Just need to be careful about track width, caster and weight distribution. To do it right, there is a lot of math involved.
