i'm debating to change the muffler or not but i don't the new welds to rust, if the rusting inevitable?

are there any shops that warrenties the weld from rusting?

Unless you are using stainless steel, all welds will rust over time.

the muffler is going to be stainless steel
but what about the welds, i never knew there was stainless steel welds

I only know of one place that will do "true" stainless steel welds. Brullen Exhausts. Nice place, really good work. If not stainless or coated - the welds will always rust.

ya stainless welding is a bit different then conventional welding and not many shops can do stainless welding

but if your muffler is one piece, the only thing that should rust is the welds on the pipes not on the mufflers...??

I'm not sure if its going to work but I just got my muffler put on and I painted the welds with a clear duplicolour engine enamel. Who knows if it will work or not. I don't think it can hurt it I masked off the rest of the muffler

Mufflers are cheap. By the time the rust becomes a problem, it's probably time to get another one anyway.

i'm going for a stainless steel muffler so i'm not concern about the muffler rusting, just the welds

stainless steel can still rust you know... expessially once its been touched with a conventional welding rod.... stainless is very impervious to rust but its not immune to it...

eg. my cousin bought a pair of my old skates off me... that had stainless steel blades on them... he didn't skate on them for a bit and when he went to use them they were rusted

For rusted welds, just take the muffler off and use wire brush to brush it off. No big deal.

Stainless steel rusts. Hence "Stain" "Less". So it stains less but still stains.
