Question rt4wd a REALAWD IN 88 civic wagon?

Dear all,

I just purchased an 88 civic wagon RT4wd for winter usage for $1500, everything is cool, but when I put up on a hoist and turn EITHER the front wheels OR the rear wheels, the rest of the wheels turn on the same direction... and given the fact that real time 4wd should ONLY deliver power to the rear differential, how come that all wheels move? I am all confused, hopefully someone can help me out.

nice purchase!!! rt4wd I thought was front wheel drive till the wheels started to slip? max distribution is 40F/60R, but normally 100F. but I'm not that familiar w/ rt4wd. on open diff civics, the wheels turn opposite directions, no??

Cause there still is static energy going through the transfer case it is sesing that all the wheels are slipping so it provides them with all power.

On the real time setup you are realling only getting power to the front wheels the majority of the time, that is until the rear begins to slip. Still, even when the rear diff is engaged the majority of the power is still only going to the front. Is kind of a crappy setup imo, but its adequate to most peoples needs.

The actual ratio is 70/30 at any given time on that 4th gen model.
