rough facking idle....help...=(

well this just started happening recently and its really getting annoying....when i am driving and i rip it and let go of the gas quickly my car gurgles a bit, sometimes backfires and sounds like absolute ***. at the lights if i am idleing the rpm will raise up and down constantly and almost stall by the sounds of things. the vacuum also goes up and down with the revs. I have a brand new skunk2 pro series intake manifold so i know its not leaking anywhere since everything is new i hope.....what could really be wrong with it? i was thinking maybe spark plugs, pcv or i was even told idle sensor but would that still cause my car to backfire and run like *** driving at normal speeds?
also not like it matters cuz the problem happened before this but it is finally turbo'd. (LS 1.8, not fully built yet but on the way)...

meesa needs help cuz i hate driving it right now....=(

running rich eh? it shouldn't be but it is still a possibility. i am running a p75 right now, chipped and tuned by BTN.
this started happening before the turbo maybe a week after i installed the new intake manifold. once i was even ripping it on the highway and in 5th it seemed like i hit a rev limiter at like 5500 rpm (before the turbo was done) and it kinda just cut off power to the engine until i slowed down a bit and accelerated normally. also, it seems to f*ck up more when its hot outside. like it will rev constantly at lights when i am stopped all day when its hot, but at night it calms down a bit...

???

ripping it on the highway is not very smart. id consider that streetracing.

how is that considered streetracing you tard? maybe going a bit over the speed limit which would get me a "SPEEDING TICKET" you moron. i don't street race cuz u know why? i like my car, and i'd like to keep it but thanks for coming out..

so it started happening ever since the new intake manifold?

you probably have a vacuum leak, or a sensor isn't reading probably dood. Who put on the manifold?

a good shop put on the manifold (trevy service center, my buddies dads shop). i knew it had the same problem before with the old manifold but now its constant, before it came more randomly. .....you think its the idle control valve, if not where is a normal place to find a leak on the manifold? i am kinda lost with this problem right now and i really don't feel like taking it to a shop to get fixed this time...lol

doesnt sound like an iacv problem because you have issues when driving as well.

Maybe the bouncing idle is the iacv, but the gurgling your hearing and backfiring is becuase your running rich.

you think i should do a tune up like plugs, wires, all that stuff and see if maybe it helps? i haven't changed my plugs since you did them last like a year ago....and with the turbo i ordered soem colder plugs but shipping is slack so i am just gonna buy some replacements till those get in...=(

stupid civic...lol.....i'll let u know if anything gets better when i do the tune up tonight...=)......hows ur car doing man? what u running in it now? pm me that if u want....unless ur completely secretive....haha

im doing a b20vtack. should be in, in about 2-3 weeks. Depends how busy i am.

I wouldnt do a tune-up, the only thing that should be fouled would be your plugs since your probably running rich. by any chance do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator?.. If yo uhave weak spark, you'd have a mis-fire, not a gurgle. I'd check ignition timing, fuel pressure and vacuum leaks.

YOU are talking about street racing?!?!?!?!.....hahahaha...hippocrate

Be careful when puttin in your new plugs, make sure to gap them to exactly what your plugs are gapped to now (which should be smaller than the stock specs since you're boosted).

If your revs are bouncing up and down at stoplights definitely look for both an air leak or vacuum leak. Spraying small amounts of propane near all the vacuum lines is a very quick and simple way to test for this. The minute the idle or engine sound changes you've probably got the general area of the leak and can shorten the amount of time troubleshooting. I've found that even the smallest leak can really fudge things up. I realized that when one my tee'd vacuum lines going to my boost gauge was leaking because the tee had broken when some idiot (probably me lolz) broke it slightly pulling the line off.
Popping while engine braking sounds to me like the air fuel ratio is out of wack which could be a result of the leak. As someone else mentioned poor ignition could cause the car not to fire properly until your revs are up, so its worth checking the plugs and lines too. Sometimes moisture or leaking oil from the valve cover can cause a spark plug to short out and fire poorly (at least one some cars I've worked on).
