roll cage?

Roll Cage
Street Car (Only)
No, If your car is a street car that you do NOT take to the track ..
There is no real advantage .... you gain chasis stifness at a cost of additional weight (60 lbs +) plus you lose the use of the back seat, and you car is permanently marked by either welds or bolt-holes.
If your Car is used on the Track and the street...
Roll Cage (6+ point) ... No if it is a daily driven street car, a full roll cage puts the steel tubing alot closer to your melon, and if that melon is not wearing a helmet during a collision you could bounce your melon off of the cage and severly hurt yourself.
Roll Bar (4 point) ... YES!!!!! It is a Safety item that you hope you will not need...but could save your life
Dedicated Track Car ...
4 point Roll bar is fine ...but a Roll Cage (6+ point) is Better ....A Roll CAGE (6+ point) provides more protection for you plus more chassis stiffness ...
P/S ... I run an AutoPower Bolt-in Roll Bar (4 point) in my Civic ... The car is my daily driver and I compete with it on weekends in Solo 1(Track) events and Solo2(Autocross) events
Cheers

thanks for the advise, very good BTW
yes my car is a street car and I'm thinking of installing a 4 point + harness bar...I don't put anyone in the back seat anyway
I removed all sound deadning material from the car and gave the inside a fresh coat of paint so that when it's stripped it would still look good....
wheight is an issue which is why I would most deffinetly go crome oly(sp?)...
you don't think that a 4 point would stiffen up the chassie?(welded in)

Roll Bar / Cage
A roll bar (4 point) will definately stiffen up the rear end of the car .... weld-in more so than bolt-in
My 4 point DOM (mild Steel) weighs about `60 lbs, a chromoly of the same design should weigh about 45-50 lbs ....It will depend on the design, Ronnie's (O'Brien Motorsports) cages are VERY stiff strong and safe, but weigh a bit more due to the extra X-bracing
Cheers

Well Camille, you are going to have a tough time convincing people you are in a 'sleeper' with a rollcage...but then again some of your othjer visislbe parts will give it away too.
That being said, get the cage. You are going to running a 12 second car...you need it.

AutoXer ....
My Roll Bar is made by AutoPower ... it is a 4 point bolt-in with the removable x-brace and harness bar options ... It was ordered through IOPORT in the States.
For Custom weld-in Cages you CANNOT beat Ronnie for quality ... He is DAMN good ... A couple of my bud's have his roll-bars in their cars .... Ronnie also did all the 2002 CASC-OR Nissian Spec series cages ....
Ya I know Ken From IPC ... he did some work on my previous car before I started/learned to wrench myself.
KSR
I cannot find Ronnie's actual address but I beleive his number is (416) 604-0477
Cheers
