ok.........today i was bored so i made something cool for my ls/vtec.......I MADE MY OWN I beam titanum rods.........well there out of aluminum right know i need to bring them to a shop so they tell me if the size are good and also does anyone know any good shops?.......will post pics up soon!! also anyone interested in a set?i'll also i can make them out of chromoly....

WTF you must have thousands of dollars worth of machines and years of knowledge... Are they casted?

there for my ls/vtec and they are cnc machined.............and making parts within + or - .003 is really easy

are they cut from a billet block of Titanum? can you make rods of any size?

it's nice to work at a machine shop. I dunno if I'd use your rods though, cuz often the material has to meet exacting specs and is often checked for imperfections before being put to use as a rod.

yes i can make any size..............and the titanum that i use we aslo use it to make parts for aircrafts so its checked for imperfections.............i'm going to be make a set for someone out of the same stuff that they use on brakes for forumal 1 race cars

Good luck with your project.

Just some food for thought though..

"Titanium isn't any stronger than steel rods.. but it is lighter. Titanium rods do cause problems, though, because titanium's matallurgy is aggressive - it likes to grab onto other metals. Unless the connecting rod big end bearing is designed to cover the sides of the rod, using titanium rods will gall the crankshaft. True, they are lighter and will free up some power during acceleration, but they are expensive and tricky to use."

i used to do forging of aluminum and titanium and thought about doing this more then once... but then the cost of making the die and what not got to be to much for a set of rods...

forging is king!!!

if it doesn't work i can always make the out of chromoly , it will only coast me $50....but i think it'll work, i'll just get more input about how there made
