Rims & Tires
I'm planning on putting some modest rims(maybe sir's) and some nice tires on in the next couple weeks. Now if I were to put on some sirs with some nice low pro, will the wheel gap be that noticeable? I'm planning on suspension work but that will take place around june/july. I can't hold off on tires since I need new ones anyway so I might as well grab the rims too.
I figure it will look about the same since I currently have 14's and the wheel gap is okay.
One more thing, are 16's the max one should put on a civic? Or are 17's okay?

17 is okay... 18s are too big physically
tire choices
15" rims:
195/55/15
205/50/15
16" rims:
195/50/16
205/45/16
17" rims
205/40/17
these will keep the same diameter as your stock combo of 185/65/14
wheel offset to look for is 40 to 45, though 45 on a 17 will prolly cause rubbing on the inside of the wheelwell.
It would be nice to consider some longer studs too.

how low pro are u gonna get on 15" rims? its basically gonna have the same wheel gap as a stock SiR
17" on a 6th gen is alright but I think 16" more than large enough and tires are slightly cheaper...not to mention the car will look slightly less "***" if you dont lower it with big rims

I like the following:
Yoko Parada Spec 2
Falken Azenis
Yoko AVS 100
and Pirelli P9000 (I think)
ummm.... off the top of my head that's all I can think of...
oh... Toyo T1S too
But really, the tires you get will be dictated by your budget. Once you find tires in your budget, then list them and I'll help you choose.
Another tip, don't go with some discount tire mfg... it's just not worth it. They wear funny, belts may come apart, they may lose grip unpredictably, or they may grip like crap after 6 months... etc.
Stick to good co's like Yoko, Falken, Dunlop, Nitto, Pirelli, Good Year. Another note, Good Year and Pirelli are very overpriced for our needs. They can make amazing rubber, but it's just not worth the $300/tire that they ask for.

Here's a good read on plus sizing which will help you.
This link will help you visualize it.
Go here to get an idea of what tires cost. You can choose between U.S and CDN funds which is a nice feature.
Btw, Toyo T1S's are an excellent tire.

tiretrends.com <-- CDN site in BC - that's where I bought my Helium rims
If I were you I'd drive over to Discount Tire in the states and put in an order, then go pick up your rims when they come in. Really, it all depends on what rims you want. Also, there is a group buy on Rota rims going on now.

any concerns putting 2K4 Si rims on a 99 Civic Sedan?
original size: 185/65/14
new size: 195/60/15
drop: 1.5 in front, 1.3 in rear
I used that tire calculator website, it said my speedometer will be 1.3% slow, but has anybody had any problems with that?

yeah, that's a little low for performance tires...
Falken ZE-512
Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
and Toyo FZ4
are in your price range. However, none of these tires are really performance tires. FZ4 is really bad, 512 is okay, 712 is not bad. I guess the 712 would be the lesser of all evils :-|
